How much money do you leave in the business account?

I own/operate a bakery/cafe and generally leave at least $60k in there, which would get me through 3-4 low revenue months. I'm considering not taking a distribution this year and letting it build to $100k due to the talk of an economic downturn. I'm curious how much other people leave in the business and reasons why. Does the possibility of a coming recession change your habits?

Late fees - (uncomfortable conversations)

I own a small residential cleaning company but still work outside of the home cleaning a few days a week myself. I’ve been in business for over 5 years but relocated states & am looking for help as the past year has been a nightmare with timely payments. People consistently are paying late and sign a contract but ignore late fee charges. So as of now, my contract has a 2 day grace period from the date of cleaning then a $35 charge. Not only am I constantly waiving this fee for repeat offenders but I’ve straight up had people cancel updated invoices with fee and then send the money without (again after giving them a “payment reminder” the second day)…. I’m seriously up to about 30%+ of my clients not paying the day of service. My contract even reiterates that payment is DUE at the time of service but the 2 day grace period is a courtesy. Any help much appreciated

Digital marketing

Hello everyone I run a retail kitchen, countertop, and hardware store. Along with other kitchen remodeling products. Long story short, we are really lacking online presence, and I want to change that. Our website is some wacky looking website that I put together using Wix. Our social media accounts are lacking. I need the assistance of Reddit to help guide me towards finding a trustworthy agency to work on all my digital marketing needs. I need web design, local SEO, and social media marketing/management work. Im located in New Jersey, right near New York, so it’s heavy populated with agencies all over. However, how do i find a reputable one to work with? Thanks in advance
