Year-end bonus.
I have a sole employee that works part-time hours and is my only bit of help. She is reliable, friendly, and is 100% efficient to the role she was hired for and the wage she receives. I had an injury that kept me off my feet, and she still worked. She collected all profits from that week as a thank you for keeping the schedule rolling. This year she will be paid about $24k in total. I am not her only source of income, I don’t feel obligated to give her a bonus, and she makes $15/hr. That being said, I would love to give her a year end bonus but I don’t know what figure to use. To those that give a yearly bonus, do you figure - hours x a fixed rate hourly bonus amount, a percentage of annual pay, or a flat rate bonus? The business can and does operate without her presence, but she certainly makes it easier and I want to show her my appreciation, I just don’t know how much is too much/little. Any insight to personal opinion or employee’s reception of such a bonus is appreciated.

Buying a business, owners son is key employee
I am thinking about buying a small industrial operation. The current owner is an older gentleman who has moved out of state and wants to retire. His son is the person essentially running the business now, he works with customers and in the shop, there is only one other hourly employee in the company. My worry is that if I were to buy the company the son could potentially walk away and start his own shop with the current customers and the business would be worth nothing. I did mention a non compete and they are okay with that but is that really enforceable in this situation? This is in Colorado if that makes a difference. Does anyone have experience with this type of situation and how I might go about it? Also the sons pay is way above market(atleast 1.5times)so I am not sure how long I can retain the fellow.

How to find evidence of money embezzlement
Hello! My father is the owner of a small business and I am 100% sure that his two closest employees (one of the area of sales and another cash management) are together in a embezzlement scheme. He is so sure they wouldn’t ever do this to him that he refuses to investigate or improve his control over sales and stock. What can I do to gather evidence about this and prove to him that they are indeed embezzling money?

How do you handle competitors not increasing prices to match current material prices?
My products are 100% steel and I just got hit with another 15% jump in material prices for another record high. With no end in sight, I'm evaluating my pricing and comparing it to my competitors but very few of them seem to be adjusted from last years prices. How the heck do you balance being competitive with needing to make enough money to eat?

Facebook advertising
Finally getting around to advertising and have taken some suggestions ive had previously (Thankyou Everyone). I am not very good at getting my words out, often feel like im rambling so ive come here to ask for everyones opinion on my written ad. "At Window Cleaning we are offering a 25% discount to all residential customers through the month of December! We still have some openings. We offer Free Estimates and Fully Insured. For Booking , send a message through facebook and we will get back to you as fast as possible." I tried to keep it short and extremely simple and was wondering if maybe i missed a good point to add. Ive thrown in the 25% discount since this is a fairly new company and need to grow my clientele and thats a good way to do so...
