Trading in Cars?

So I’ve had this car for about 2 years, first car and I got it before I was into cars and all that. Now that I’m into cars more there are other cars like the 350z which catch my eye a little more, I’ve done some mods to this car that I own now like straight pipe, CarPlay display and smoked taillights. Anyone who knows a lot about stuff like this, how would places take it to trade in this car for a different one or sell it. Do I return it to stock? Is it easy enough to just trade in? Thanks

Rusty car from Missouri, will it pass California inspection?

I drive a Chevrolet Cobalt 2009 in Missouri and it has multiple problems. I am adamant on taking it to to California it is a little expensive to get a car right now. I felt it is easier to just get my car transported to California. But talking to the mechanic today he insisted that Rusty car with a couple of valve, air intake, thermostat issues and other types of engine light invoking issues have come up and it will cost me another thousand bucks for it to get fixed and he told me to cut my losses and just sell the car in Missouri itself so I can get a new car in California. Can you kindly suggest me what I have to do in the scenario should I sell my car or keep it and get it fixed? Also will a rusty car not pass the inspection in California?
