I actually trust Coinbase 🤷🏻‍♂️

They survived 2017/2018, so I prefer them to other platforms. What are your thoughts about them? They even sent out an email earlier today. “With the recent liquidity issues in the crypto markets this week, we want to reiterate how Coinbase’s business is different and ultimately better protects your account & digital assets. For the last 10 years, we have built Coinbase in a way that allows us to be transparent about our track record and balance sheet strength, and effectively and prudently manage risk for our 108+ million customers and ourselves.”

Is Coinbase the safest place for a complete idiot to invest in Cryptocurrency?

I know this is against common advice, but I just want to log in somewhere, buy crypto, and leave it there untouched for years. Is a place like Coinbase the best option for this? I stupidly thought Celsius was a good option for this, did my first crypto purchases there, and got burned. Is there somewhere better that comes with some more assurance than Coinbase that the funds are protected/insured? I don't want any features at all. Just give me a deposit and a withdrawal button. That's all I want. If there were a way to dump money into a crypto mutual fund with an "old money" bank/service, I'd probably prefer that, honestly. I just want to dump an amount in and be assured that it will be there in a decade without needing to keep track of whether or not the service got hacked or went bankrupt.

Crypto is Terrifying for the Average User

Imagine if you didn't check this subreddit page constantly or if you didn't follow cryptocurrency news religiously and you came back to find that the funds you had left on an exchange were gone forever... Yes yes yes I know, get a wallet, not your keys not your coins. That is common knowledge to hopefully everyone on this subreddit but to the average user, that might be a very important step that they miss. Even for a crypto user who has been around since 2016, crypto still makes me uneasy and I know I am doing everything right to ensure that my funds are as safe as possible. I just look forward to the day when the average users feels safe with your crypto. When exactly that'll happen, who knows, but I sure hope that it is sooner rather than later. Stay safe out there people.

Same people who rob you in the fiat system wanna rob you in the name of "crypto" and that's why they fear Bitcoin maximalism so much

Got an email from Robinhood: “Transfer your crypto to Robinhood”

RH is a fucking scam. They turned off trading when GME exploded. Why the fuck would they think this message would be trusted by their user base. I imagine all exchanges are jumping on this marketing push because of the FTX shitshow. The only email that is acceptable from a legit exchange should be, Remove your crypto from our exchange. Literally the point of crypto is taking away control from outside parties and giving you control over your finances. Just found that email audacious and needed to rant. Have a good weekend reading about how to transfer your funds to your ledger. The time is now.

Safest exchange??

In light of recent events with FTX, where is everyone trading today? Which exchange are you all using? I use Binance primarily now, but have accounts at Pionex, Kucoin and Coinbase. I’ve been seeing some FUD recently with Binance as well that they are not sauce either, are people using Coinbase that too seems unsafe. I use a ledger hardware wallet, but I’m waiting for good buying opportunity so have limit orders in cash sitting on the exchange. Once I hit my buys they’ll be transferred to the hardware wallet immediately. I feel like if Binance went under then every exchange will since they seem the largest/safest to me at least

Just so everyone knows, if you've ever said bad stuff about me on Twitter, and want to make it right/changed your mind about me... all is forgiven. The important thing is that we all move forward together and continue to remove the real bad actors like SBF.

It always was and always will be about decentralization. Beware of centralizing wolves in sheep's clothing. 🧵1/15
