We have been making so much progress here on the farm this spring! In addition to putting up over 30 hoops and planting them full of flower seed crops, weβve also been busy creating more gardens. One of the areas weβve been transforming is around my little flower studio/garage. beckycrowley_ sees things in such an amazing, layered, long term way and I canβt wait to see her vision grow in over the next few years. This is an older david_austin_roses variety called Janet that I managed to miraculously snag at antiquerosefarm a few weeks ago. Sheβs getting a prominent spot for sure. #growingfloret

This week has been insanely hard. A heat wave has raged through the valley making days long and rough. Transplanting and planting seedlings out is almost impossible unless done at dawn or dusk when things are cooler. Yesterday the thermometer read 86 F, not at all normal for our northern climate. But, what is normal these days? Last night a cool rain came through, while it wasnβt enough to saturate the soil, it cooled things down and eased my stress. Last year we were in a severe drought and by September our well ran dry. This year we are preparing for the same and taking precautions early in the season. Fingers crossed we do not have a repeat of the 2020 horror show ππ€¦π»ββοΈ My body is sore, my back and shoulders are red like a lobster, Iβm beyond exhausted, my ears are swollen from a newly hatched black fly population...... but I wouldnβt have it any other way because this is farming and I absolutely love what I get to do everyday. #flowerfarmer #womenwhofarm
