I’ve noticed myself starting to look for the littlest signs of fall this past week. Nothing notable yet but it does seem like my shadows are growing a little bit longer each day, and the morning dew feels a bit heavier, spiders are starting to make their webs across the pathways (I will soon carry a stick on my morning walks to gently move them aside) and the earliest hydrangeas are beginning to turn the slightest bit cranberry. Overall it still feels very much like summer but I know it won’t last and I’m trying to savor every second of the sunshine and heat and freedom. Pictured here: a tangle of towering hollyhocks and the cutting garden in it’s wild late summer glory. #growingfloret #ayearinflowers

Some air plants like this Tillandsia xerographica x brachycaulos have foliage that turns from green to red during the bloom cycle, to attract their hummingbird pollinators. #airplants #epiphytes #asheville #apptropicals #wnc #houseplants #avl #weship https://t.co/YsPK1Ik0Ua

A few signs that you’re a flower farming family: 1.) When driving down country roads your kids are marveling at all the irrigation systems & talking between themselves in the back seat about drip lines & how many lines can be run off of a system that size. 🤣 2.) Out to dinner the other night my husband got a pink straw in his ice tea & Finn says dad your straw is blush. 3.) My husband’s response to the blush straw…. well actually Finn I think it’s a smokey peach. 🍑 Yep, we’re all in!!! 🤗 Pictured: Sweet Suzanne #flowerfarm #flowerfarmer #flowerfarming #dahlia #dahlias #dahliaseason #thefarmhouseflowerfarm #summerflowers #freshflowers #cutflowers #localflowers #washingtonflowers #flowers #flowergarden #cuttinggarden #garden #stanwood #pnw #farmerflorist #dahlialove

Not all fuchsias are completely hardy, so some won't survive over winter. The great news is, it's easy to make new plants for free by taking cuttings, which you can protect over winter. And now's the time to do it. Here's how. https://t.co/u4y0I9IlJu
