To heal our environment, we must restore the world's wildernesses and protect its most vulnerable species, like this puma cub from the Southern tip of South America. Due to habitat loss, their numbers â as well as those of native deer, foxes and other creatures â have been declining for decades. Conservationist and former Patagonia CEO Kristine Tompkins (kristine_tompkins) is working hard to change that. "If there was ever a moment to awaken to the reality that everything is connected to everything else, it's right now â the fate of humanity is tied to the health of the planet," she says. Over the last 27 years, her group has bought 14.7 millions of acres of land and donated it back to the governments of Chile and Argentina to serve as national parks. See more stunning photos and footage of this restoration â and learn Tompkins's vision for "rewilding" the planet â at the link in out bio. â â [Image courtesy of Kristine Tompkins]

Say âhelloâ to one fierce marsupial: the spotted-tail quoll (Dasyurus maculatus). It's found on the eastern Australian mainland, as well as on the island of Tasmania. When taking out prey it bites down on the head and uses its strong teeth and jaw to deliver a crushing blow. It has a varied diet which includes a range of critters, such as small mammals, reptiles, birds, and insectsâbut meat from gliders, rabbits, or bandicoots are favored. Another fun fact about this animal? Its hisses and screams have been likened to the sounds of a circular saw. This species is vulnerable to threats from habitat loss, competition with other species, and predation by introduced animals like foxes, dogs, and cats. David Hasselhoff is auctioning off his personal 'Knight Rider' K.I.T.T. car.â â Neither K.I.T.T.âs legendary weapons arsenal nor Danielsâs verbal charm is a feature of this particular vehicle, but it is a âfully functionalâ ride, according to LiveAuctioneers. It also boasts an impressively colorful display of dashboard lights.â â Predictably, Hasselhoffâs once-in-a-lifetime offering isnât exactly a bargain. Though estimated to fetch somewhere between $175,000 and $300,000, the leading bid (as of January 8) is $450,000. If it sells for at least 25 percent more than the reserve priceâthe lowest price a seller is willing to accept for an itemâHasselhoff will show up to the new ownerâs garage and pass off the car himself.â â If you can afford to shell out around half a million dollars for the ultimate â80s memorabilia, place your bid before January 23.
