Coco the six-year-old newfoundland and poodle cross - also known as a newfiedoodle - has the longest eyelash on a dog at 17.8 cm (7 in) as verified in Santa Cruz, California, USA, on 18 November 2022 🐶 This record has been going for more than 20 years, and the standard has progressed massively since then. This unique critter is a neotenic amphibian, meaning it retains most of its juvenile features into adulthood—including frilly gills and dorsal fins. What’s more? The axolotl lives permanently in water, breathing primarily through its gills rather than its rudimentary lungs. Found only in Lake Xochimilco in the Valley of Mexico, this rare amphibian is threatened in the wild by pollution, overfishing, and other human activities.
