Step inside the Museum’s new Gilder Center, and take a peek at the collections! 🔎Ammonites are a group of ancient mollusks related to modern animals like nautiluses, squid, and octopuses. They were a phenomenally successful group, branching out into a wide variety of distinct species and diverse forms all over the world’s oceans, where they endured for more than 300 million years. Only a small fraction of the Museum’s specimens and objects are on display. Millions more are studied behind the scenes. But now, in the Louis V. Gerstner, Jr. Collections Core, you can see more than 3,000 objects from the Museum’s research collections, from astrophysics to zoology. Find the ammonites on the first floor of the Gilder Center in the Macaulay Family Foundation Collections Gallery. ✨ #anmonite #naturalhistory #gildercenter #uws #amnh #museumlife
