A sex-crazed tortoise who had fathered hundreds and has been praised for 'saving its species from extinction' was retired just a few years ago after siring more than 800 children 🐢 Diego is his name, and he is a hero. Diego the Galápagos tortoise was retired from his duties at the Galápagos national park's breeding programme on Santa Cruz island, with Ecuador's environment minister Paulo Proaño Andrade describing his retirement as the 'end of an era'. Diego was breeding in captivity to save the species from extinction for decades, but was sent on June 15 2020 to live out the rest of his days in his native home, the uninhabited island of Española, along with 14 other male tortoises. Park rangers said that Diego fathered at least 40 percent of the 2,000 tortoises that live there, thanks to his high libido. Diego, we salute you 👏

A pensioner who didn’t like the sound of a patient’s ventilator and reportedly switched it off twice ‘meant no harm’, her son has said. Hatun C. is said to have switched off a 79-year-old woman's ventilator twice because she was annoyed by the sound it made. A joint statement from the police and Mannheim public prosecutor's office said that the woman was 'strongly suspected' of switching off the ventilator. The accused 73-year-old woman is said to be a patient on the Covid ward of Mannheim's Diako Hospital. She reportedly turned off the oxygen machine of Hilal K., who had to be revived by medics. Hilal K. later died from oxygen starvation complications. The incident occurred on November 30 and Hatun C. has since been jailed on suspicion of manslaughter.
