How often do you have date night?
Read an article and was really surprised that the author found being able to go on a date night once a month was way too seldom (about 55% I think with kids between 4-18 said that number in the study). Now I realize this probably vary a lot, but I personally thought being able to have a night child free once a month sounds like some magic fairytale… we have a 4.5 year old and i think we’ve had a date night 5 times in those years in total. Maybe we’re outliers here and I could definitely do with more frequent date nights. Anyhow would be interesting to hear other parents experiences with this!

Melatonin do you use it for your kids?
Curious if anyone here is for or against melatonin for helping kiddos go to bed? Our almost four year old is having major FOMO every night the past few weeks and it’s been a tough time getting her to bed. We turn off all screens before dinner, have bath and story time, a nighttime toy on. She’s just super energized and wants to play. Mornings we wake the kids at 6:30 and preschool days she has been napping because of the late nights up. I’m wondering if using melatonin would help us get back on track, but don’t want to make things worse. Wondering if anyone has an opinion about it’s use?

Trying to teach my kid how to read
Hi, I'm the Father of a 5 year old girl and am in the process of trying to teach her how to read. She can identify most of the Alphabet but struggles to identify what sounds the letters make, figuring out actual words is totally foreign to her. What are some ways I can help her that would be easy to understand? I'm really trying to be patient but it's frustrating when she just says "I don't know" and then starts crying wanting to give up blah blah. I'm not chewing her out or anything but it's like bro what're you doing at school all day if you can't even tell me what sound a "P" makes, for example. Any help is greatly appreciated

parents bringing their kids to an open gym while sick 🙄
Mini rant coming. We get there's an inherent risk any time you go out in public, especially in the winter but WHY would someone bring their congested, coughing, sniffly 2 year old to a gymnastic open gym around 30 other kids? Oh my God the ignorance. This girl looks miserable and she's the only one here with her two parents (they were in line in front of us of course). Don't be these people lol. Luckily the gym is big and we can keep a good distance but they have her all over the foam pit and we're avoiding it now.
