"I could sing all day AND all night" 😳⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ #EarthCapture by jorendejager ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ The European robin (Erithacus rubecula) is, despite its small size, a very territorial bird. They hold their territories all year round and sing not only to attract mates but also to mark that territory. It's not uncommon to hear them singing through nighttime hours in urban areas. It is thought that the light pollution in those areas might play a role in why this happens; the street lights confusing the birds and making them think the days are longer than they really are. ⁣⁣⁣ .⁣⁣ .⁣⁣ .⁣⁣ .⁣⁣ #bbcearth #robin #bird #birdsofinstagram #ornithology #beautifulbirds #birdwatching #wildlife #wildlifephotography #naturephotography #amazinganimals #nature #naturelovers #earth #earthlovers

Julia Gardner, one of the first women geologists hired by the @USGS, served in the Military Geology Unit during WWII. She helped pinpoint the enemies launch sites for balloon-borne incendiary bomb attacks, by analyzing seashells in the balloons’ sand ballast. #WomensHistoryMonth https://t.co/2J7OvsnMnS

We're gonna need a bigger boat!🐟 We've been busy collecting adult winter Chinook salmon in California! These fish are trapped on the Sacramento River and then transferred to Livingston Stone National Fish Hatchery for spawning. More: https://t.co/2S20s0Qv7w 📷@USFWSColeman https://t.co/QzvIEVZLOP
