When Sarah Hoyt arrived at Fort Jackson, S.C., for basic training in 2002, the Army confiscated all of her personal belongings. That included sports bras she had packed for the 10 weeks of strenuous physical activity that stretched ahead of her, she said. If she wanted new ones, she had to visit a reception station, which sold just one brand and one style, said Hoyt, now 41 and an Army veteran living at Camp Humphreys in South Korea. “If racerbacks were uncomfortable for you, too bad. If you needed more support, too bad. If the store was out of your size, too bad,” she said. Now 20 years later, the Army is poised to offer its first official uniform bra in an effort to address challenges like the ones Hoyt faced, as well as equip female soldiers with better options for combat and training use. The Manchester City footballer Benjamin Mendy raped three women in one night after a pool party at his isolated mansion and a night out at a club, a court was told. Mendy, 28, allegedly attacked the women at his £4.8m home near Prestbury, Cheshire, as he and a friend “turned the pursuit of women for sex into a game” and treated them with “callous indifference”. During a string of alleged attacks Mendy acted as a “predator” who treated women as “disposable”, it was alleged. Two victims believed that they could not escape because the doors to his study and bedroom had been shut with a lock designed to turn them into a panic room, a jury was told. The French defender denies eight charges of rape, one of attempted rape and one of sexual assault. His co-accused, Louis Saha Matturie, 40, denies eight charges of rape and four of sexual assault relating to eight young women. Two women were allegedly raped by both men. 🔗 For the full story, follow the link in our bio

With their big eyes, furry legs and exotic colors, jumping spiders are described as some of the most adorable arachnids — but members of its more than 5,000 species are amazing in other ways, too. They have spectacular vision, can make complex decisions and are capable of forming memories. Some do hypnotic mating dances like tropical birds. And many can leap relatively far distances. A new study, from German, Italian and U.S. researchers, says that a species of jumping spider may have another fascinating trait: the ability to have rapid eye movement sleep, a phase of rest characterized by twitching limbs, high brain activity, and eyes that race in different directions. Scientists say humans have their most vivid dreams during REM sleep. Read more through the link in our bio.

Donald Trump had been planning a visit to the UK to visit his golf properties later this summer but yesterday claimed the FBI took his passports in last week’s raid on his Florida home. The former president demanded their return, along with other documents seized. Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform: “Wow! In the raid by the FBI of Mar-a-Lago, they stole my three Passports (one expired), along with everything else. This is an assault on a political opponent at a level never seen before in our Country. Third World!” 🔗 Click the link in bio for the full story 📸 David 'Dee' Delgado/ Reuters
