Please tell my husband how incredibly stressful my MIL is

Hi guys. 7 weeks PP here. Please, tell my husband how stressful advices that his mom gives me every god damn hour. Baby is cold, baby is hungry, put a hat on him, move him arm a little more. My husband just tells me to "get over it". I want to throw up every time baby cries because I already know she will start asking me whats wrong with him. Please let tell him I am going to mentally crack if she keeps on giving unsolicited advices. Thanks!

Please convince me it's safe to take antidepressants while breastfeeding

I'm 6 months postpartum and still breastfeeding. I need to take antidepressants, I know that. I'm drowning in depression and I'm not the mom I want to be. My doctor gave me lexapro. I logically know that she wouldn't give me something that's not safe for my baby. But emotionally I can't get past this fear that it will hurt my baby. I fear that it will mess up his brain. I don't understand how doctors have determined it won't hurt kids brain development long term. My first baby died and so I have so much anxiety about doing something that would hurt this baby. All I've ever wanted to be is a mom and now that I have it, I'm so mentally messed up I can't even do a good job at it.

What happens to poor sleepers who aren’t sleep trained?

I’m curious what happens to infants with parent-led sleep associations (I.e. need support falling asleep after each sleep cycle) who are not sleep trained. However, I’m not looking for the pros and cons of sleep training :) I can find lots of info on that online but having trouble finding out more about my more specific question. Thanks!

The dog accidentally jumped on the baby and now everyone feels bad

My husband and I were in our room getting ready to go out for the afternoon and our 5 week old was hanging out on the bed. Our dog decided she was in a playful mood and my husband decided to indulge her. She's done good about not jumping on the bed when baby's up there but she forgot. Jumped on the bed, back foot landed on baby, baby freaks out. I freak out because he has the tiniest spek of blood under his nose. I'm talking about smaller than the head of a needle. Baby is fine. Area around baby's mouth is slightly red but that's it. I feel bad because I should have warned them. Husband feel bad since he egged dog on. Dog feels bad (put herself to bed when baby started crying and put her head and ears down). Baby feels bad because face hurts. Cat feels bad because....cat.

formula farts

My god this kid's farts are lethal. I swear they linger. Opening his swaddle is dangerous. My nostrils are burning. It's like smelling gasoline.

Was week 6 a nightmare for you?

Our baby girl has been pretty predictable for the past few weeks. Normally naps a few times during the day for 2-3 hours then will wake up and I breastfeed her. We have been experiencing the witching hour for a few weeks from about 5pm-10pm which sucks, but she will always sleep through the night. Recently she has been terrible at napping, always wants to cluster feed which is really mentally and physically draining, and has been spitting up and more gassy. Our pediatrician said it’s all normal but man does it suck! Just when you think you have a routine going, baby has other plans. I always depend on her long naps to get stuff done during the day or at least have some time to relax, but now my husband have been thrown through a loop. Was week 6 rough for everyone else?

School me on baby clothes! What do I need, when?

I hear not to buy too many clothes but I am excited to dress up my future daughter one day…whether it’s for the holidays or beyond. There are lots of clearance sales - what are the rules of thumb? When do they start wearing separates? Can babies wear tights? Onesies until how old? Zip up sleepers, with footies or not? Any help so appreciated!

When can they appreciate movies? the zoo? etc?

So, this is my first one and I find myself just looking forward to all the things she is going to get to do, but wondering when she will start appreciating these things. When did your kiddos actually sit and watch a movie with you? What about the zoo- I see lots of sleepy kids at the zoo- when did your LO actually enjoy it? Other things that you enjoy that they could enjoy with you? I just keep seeing kids out in public trying to guess how old they are

How do I have a productive conversation with my husband about the mental load without being condescending about it?

I’ve shown him the comic. I have told him it feels unequal, I have told him I feel like I’m drowning sometimes. I have asked him explicitly to do something and had varying levels of success. He retorts back that he has a mental load too and I get it, I really do. Our daughter is 18 months, we both work full time and it’s hard! And I know that it’s never going to be 50/50 all the time but it doesn’t even feel like we’re coming close. Just looking for some advice - what has worked for you guys ?
