I F-up and now I need to try and somehow take my toddler to a party lol
I got the time of a party wrong and it's now over and my daughter's expecting to go to a party in an hour... She's coming up to 3 years old and has behaved really well today as we said if you do X Y and Z you can get a party after... Well she did her bit and now there's no party. Frantically messaging all our friends with kids for a spontaneous play date and I'll bring some cake and balloons. Also looking at local events.... Just hope the parent Gods shine on me lol š Edit: mates are free and up for a last min party, gonna grab cake music player and some balloons, I think that with a fancy dress plus a friend = party š

Goodbye r/NewParents! It's Been Real.
Well, we did it! My husband and I are no longer "new parents"! Our twins are one years old! I still cannot believe it has been a whole year of loving these boys. I am so grateful to this community, I spent many long nights breastfeeding just scrolling and it made me feel a lot less alone in these struggles! To everyone who is just starting the first year, it does get easier. One day you'll watch your toddler(s) running around playing and realized how far you've come. Here's to all the years ahead still! Congratulations on your sweet babies everyone, goodbye! Edit: Hello everyone! To clarify, I don't think the sub "kicks you out" when your baby turns one or anything! I totally understand why people want to stay after one, I just don't personally feel like a new parent anymore. New to the toddler stage for sure, but that is not the content of this sub. Sorry if I upset anymore, congrats to all the parents in the comments whose babies also just turned one!

I think the worst part of having a baby...
THE NAILS! HOW DO THEY GROW SO FAST?! Sometimes I can ninja get them when she's sleeping. Rarely she'll be in a good mood about it, but it can happen. Most of the time I feel like I'm torturing my child. Then I blink and they are long again...

Paying my Twin Daughters to Get Good Grades: The Results Are In!
Hey Reddit, As a part-time dad and entrepreneur, I know the ups and downs of life and understand the importance of education. That's why I decided to motivate my twin daughters by paying them for good grades. I made a deal with them: their job would be their education, and I would pay them weekly for a minimum of a 3.5 GPA. And if they were able to get a 4.0, I would increase the pay by 50%. My goal was to encourage them to focus on their studies and help them understand the value of education for their future careers. Yesterday, my girls FaceTimed me with certificates of high honors, both getting a 4.0! I was so proud of their hard work and dedication to their education. I wanted to share this story with the community to show that there are different ways to motivate our children and encourage their education. What do you guys think? Have any of you tried something similar with your kids? Thanks for reading!

Why are parents trying baby led weaning if they are scared of it?
I keep seeing all these tik toks and posts (likely the algorithm is sending to me bc I have a baby about to start foods). So frequently the parents talk about how nervous they are to do baby led weaning. So why are they doing it? From my research it says itās just a preference. If you are scared do it, why would you? Iām going to talk to my pediatrician about their recommendation and I plan to do purĆ©es at least to start, but am I missing something about why you would do BLW if you donāt want to?

when did your child switch from the crib to a toddler bed?
My 22 month old is currently in a crib, and I wasn't planning on switching over to a toddler bed until she was like 3 or so. I shared this tidbit with a friend who thought I was setting her up to be "babyfied" for the rest of her life. I just think the crib is easier and would like to use it as long as possible š¤·āāļø So, fellow parents, when did you switch your toddlers? Did you base your decision on milestones or age? Thanks in advance!

Separated and the first thing he does is disappear
So basically the only reason he was around for his kids was so I could pay all the bills, the rent, the groceries, do 90% of childcare and keep the home clean. He was around because it was convenient. He never loved me, he doesnāt feel any attachment to his kids. Heās a total sociopath. I feel sick to my stomach

Naming daughter after FIL on ventilator....
My father in law was in a horrible accident. He may never come out of incubation after almost 2 weeks, we are concerned after the care conference today that he won't come out of this or ever be him again with the brain damage. I love him like a dad honestly and it's been so devastating. I knew before this that if we had a boy I wanted to incorporate his name in there somehow but we are having a girl. His name is Eric and middle name is Ray. Erica is out, as his niece is named Erica. I'm wondering about Raya as a first name? The middle name is Linnae, after my husband's mom, Eric's wife. I wanted Eden Linnae but after this accident, I just feel emotional and want to honor him in someway. Curious your thoughts on doing this. Thanks everyone.

Day breast milk vs night breast milk? Cortisol vs melatonin?
Hi, I exclusively pump and recently I have been reading about the level of cortisol in morning milk vs melatonin in evening milk. I usually donāt separate my milk based on timings, I refrigerate and give my son the next feed. My question is should I be separating the mill based on timings. Is there any proof that breast milk pumped in night would help baby sleep and the milk pumped in morning would help baby stay awake ?

6 month old hums while eating... then AAAAAAAA
I dont know why she does this, but it seems she does this the most with eggs. She will grab fist fulls and hum while she slowly eats it, almost like savoring?? I don't know. So I let her finish eating. She ate almost all of the egg squares, her veggies (1 piece of brocolli, mushroom, carrot, and green bean... she likes sucking the beans out and discarding the rest, lol), and some pear puree (had half the size of my palm, so not too much considering she ate all of her egg. After eating, she plays with the bits of egg that fell off the plate, onto the table, then.. AAAAAAAAAAAAAA with a huge smile. Did I make her happy with my cooking? Is that what the humming is? Or am I imagining a cute impossibility?

Single parents because of a death, how did you deal?
My childās father (28) died two weeks ago, me (26) and my 5 year old child unfortunately witnessed the death. I donāt think I have accepted it yet, some part of me still thinks I can call his phone or see him later in the future. It doesnāt feel like heās gone. How did you guys cope? We havenāt been together for two years but we were close. I never thought Iād have to go through this, on top of that Iāve never had anyone close to me die. She should be at his house right now, he always got her on weekends. Itās so weird. Itās just sad. How have you guys been pushing through? He will never see her graduate, or walk her down the isle on her wedding day. He loved her so much. Iām so mad.

Help! Is this reflux?
Bromos, I need help! Youngest is 5 months. Has been a serial spit-upper her whole life, every feed. Super happy kid though, never acts like sheās in pain. Friday am she puked a lot first thing in the morning. Nothing the rest of the day. Saturday nothing. This morning, puked a lot again. Is this reflux from being on her back all night? I donāt think itās the stomach bug because she doesnāt puke consistently as in all day. And weāve already had it pass through our house twice. Help?!?

Does your baby slam their legs down a lot?
My PPA is getting the best of me, does anyone elseās LO around 5-6mo aggressively slam their legs down while on their back or twirl their feet. As well Iām anxious about my little one arching her back and getting fussy randomly which she never did before a few days ago. Mentally Iām not doing great today and just need to hear that other babies do this too.
