While our kids’ teachers work tirelessly to make learning enticing, it’s also up to us parents to cultivate a passion for learning in our children — and continue to fuel its flames as they grow. @PBSKIDS https://t.co/r3LjBtTF2n

I cried in front of my babies pediatrician today

LO was throwing an absolute fit and I was trying to describe something to my pedi. He was crying so loud I couldn't hear myself talking and combined with it being a million degrees to warm in the room with my kn95 mask I started to tear up and eventually couldnt keep my shit together. She's a lovely woman and didn't bat any eye but I'm embarrassed - please tell me this has happened to other people before.

How are you supposed to avoid a flat head if no pillows are allowed in the crib?

They say firm mattress with nothing else in the crib. Then also tell you not to let your baby's head get flat. How?? -A parent with a baby beginning to have a flat head P.S. I don't want to hear about co-sleeping etc. We're choosing to follow AAP guidelines

I made a mistake with my 3 year olds bedtime… by singing him to sleep.

I know I made a huge mistake by doing this and it now affects bedtimes. It affects my evenings. I would appreciate some advice on how to get out of this deal with the devil. Bedtime is at 7pm and we read and sing. Sometimes he’s asleep by the end of book number 2 but it’s the singing he’s attached to. I will try and leave sometimes he he starts up “ no stay, you need to sing”. If I do leave after a couple of books he will be up and down constantly. So please help me get out of this awful habit. I say awful, it is lovely but it can take up a whole lot of time if it doesn’t go well. And causes unnecessary stress!

Getting dressed is hard...

I hate all my clothes and none of my bras fit anymore. I'm OVER IT. My boobs are flatter post pregnancy. Don't get me wrong I actually love the way they look, but I cannot find a bra that fits. They're so empty up top and yet I'm still somehow spilling out?? Also I hate that all my clothes are old or hand-me-downs. None of them reflect who I am as a person anymore. I feel uncomfortable in everything I own. I can't afford all new clothes and even if I could I have no time to go shopping. And, you know, mom guilt. I just want to set my entire wardrobe on fire.

Best fitness tracker for stroller walks?

Does anyone have a step counter that picks up stroller walks? I tried one but it doesn’t register, I guess because my wrist is pretty stable when pushing the stroller. Adding: anyone who has this same problem please drop your step tracker so I don’t try that one next. Thanks in advance!

Maternity leave is lonely

I feel very lucky to have 18 weeks maternity leave to be home with my little girl, but I never anticipated how lonely it would be. Being in the middle of cold and flu season and the pandemic I haven’t had many people over, but I’m also realizing I have lost touch with most all of my friends. It’s hard to keep in touch when my day is feed, change, housework, contact naps with Velcro baby, rinse and repeat. My fiancé is back to work and by the time him and my oldest get home from work and school there’s only a couple of hours before bathtime and bedtime, and it’s the most chaotic part of the day. I usually go to sleep right after baby to get enough sleep as well, so one on one with my partner is rare. I miss adult conversation, I miss socializing. I’m incredibly introverted and just didn’t expect this side of things.

When Zelensky became President of Ukraine in 2019, he asked lawmakers not to hang his portrait in their offices because he was there to serve and not an idol. He asked them to hang pictures of their children instead "and look into their eyes before every decision.” No matter what happens to Zelensky, I hope all the lawmakers throughout the world are taking notes.

Is there anything I can do to help with 4 year old Daughters stutter?

So, my daughter has recently developed a little stutter on I and my. Not sure how to help her beat it. Asked her teacher and got the response “yes, I noticed the stutter” but no help. She is getting speech and language assistance but they haven’t really given us any guidance for home. I don’t want her confidence knocking as she suffers with shyness already. Thank you in advance.

Mayonnaise Sandwich for a Toddler

My in-laws were feeding a mayonnaise sandwich to my 18-month old son. I feel like this crosses a line…I’m not sure what line, but it feels wrong. Please advise. To be clear, the ingredients for a mayonnaise sandwich: two slices of bread and a whole bunch of mayonnaise.

Red irritated labia 10-month-old

Woke up today and babies labia is very red and irritated looking, she’s been pooping a lot and it’s been shooting up to her lady bits so there has been more wiping than usual which is likely the culprit. I would appreciate any advice on how to remedy this for her as quickly as possible, it doesn’t look comfortable :(
