The harsh reality of being a parent that is overlooked

When you don’t want your kid to miss school and also participates in sports, but her providers don’t have late appointments, or when they do, they’re booked months out! Meaning, not only does she miss school, but I also have to miss work! More and more work! Fortunately, I have a partner who can handle those tasks, but the parents who don’t have much of a support system, who have very high risks of losing their jobs to be a good parent for their child! Who also has to live in a society that will smugly shrug their shoulders and say “life’s hard, figure it out”. Then when that parent loses their job, those same people will say dumb shit like, “should’ve made better choices”, “should’ve lived within your means”, We complain about a divided society, and do very little to help our neighbors!

Can repeated panic reactions in babies during diaper changes potentially lead to trauma development?

Is there any research on this at all? More often than not, our 2 month old baby cries uncontrollably and sometimes as if in a panic during diaper changes. I have stopped changing several times to pick him up and soothe him before continuing because I'm scared it could lead to some form of trauma development or destructive attachment style. I am fully aware of the fact that it's completely "normal" for babies to cry during diaper changes, but I mean, one moment he is completely safe and surrounded by a lot of love and affection, and the next moment he's in a complete panic, screaming, almost as if in a life and death situation... Must be extremely confusing to say the least, and perhaps even traumatizing?? We're reading a lot and trying different tactics and overall it's getting better I guess, but I still wanted to reach out regarding this to see what people think.

Just Waiting until the Next Nap

I feel like I'm living the same day over and over. Currently on mat leave while husband works. My 3 month old baby is so fucking fussy. Every 5 mins he needs to do something different or he starts bitching. Tummy time, 5 mins. Playmat, 5 mins. Kick n' play piano, 5 mins. I just repeat the same activities over and over until the next nap. He'll just nap for 30 mins and then it's this agonizing hell all over again. I can't stand this. It's not what I imagined parenting would be like. Sometimes I just want to walk out the door and never come back.

Is pack and play foldable mattress good for baby to sleep on? It doesn't sit flat when the sheet is over it.

Can't do anything while she is awake

I have an almost 9 month old. I can't do anything while she's awake, which is 80% of the day. I mean nothing. She screams and hollers at me until I sit down and look at her/play with her. I see other parents putting their babies on a mat and getting stuff done and my kid won't do this. Her older sisters were the same way. Is somewthing wrong with my babies or the way I parent them??

At what age did you think it felt appropriate for a child to get out of bed by themselves, get snacks, play games etc. unsupervised?

I had abusive and neglectful parents so I’m not sure what a normal age or boundary is for this.
