Deciding against breastfeeding?

Hi all - I’m pregnant with my first and REALLY don’t want to breastfeed. It’s stressing me out. I’m wondering if anyone else made that decision right off the bat? Part of me thinks I should try to breastfeed at least before calling it quits. Bonus points if you delivered at a baby friendly hospital!!

Do you miss the younger version of your kids?

It’s weird, like I don’t have a great memory of what my daughter was like as a baby on a day to day basis but I look at the pictures and videos and I feel this gut-wrenching sadness. Yes my tween is still my daughter but that little baby or toddler or 5-year old doesn’t exist anymore. And I miss her, I almost feel like I’m mourning. This has to be some mortality related thing right? If I could have my way I would live as a 35 year old with a 4 year old forever into eternity. Obviously I know that’s not possible, there is no alternative for us to all grow up, grow old, and pass away. But why can’t I stop thinking about it?

how to decide on more children?

Hi all those parents out there, I could use your help. My spouse and I have an adorable 1 year old and we have been thinking of expanding our family. I know my spouse would like more, but I am not sure I can do it again. I had a high risk pregnancy, an emergency c section and ppd. I feel like I am finally getting back to myself. I love my little one, but I am not sure I can go through it all again. I feel guilty about only wanting one baby. I would love to hear what helped you make the decision to have more kids.

My kid loves Taylor Hawkins... to tell or not to tell?

Seems a silly thing to be worrying about but my 7yo daughter LOVES Foo Fighters and Taylor Hawkins specifically. We watch live concert videos on youtube and she'll be all "He's playing his pink drums today!" When In Your Honor comes on she yells "Taylor's drums are going crazy!" We had tickets to go to a show in a smallish (for them anyway) venue I was going to take her to but stupid covid ruined that one. I can't decide if I should tell her he's died or not. Most folks don't talk about rock drummers with seven year old girls so the likelihood of her hearing about it anytime soon is slim. Whenever she finds out about it she will be gutted... do I tell her or just let her hear about it at some point in the future?

Advice on feeding a screaming child?

My kid is generally a picky eater, but will at least eat something at dinner. Tonight she cried the entire time and ate nothing. Do I try again in 20 mins, or put her to bed without eating, or switch foods entirely?

Are naps the kobayashi maru?

Baby fights naps. Maybe he’s undertired. Okay. Try possum approach. More stimulation. More playing. Nope. Now baby is overtired and will make his crankiness known very loudly. (Dude is 3.5 month adjusted with a serious case of FOMO. Blah blah developmentally appropriate blah blah but god I’m mentally exhausted from every nap (and frankly now, every feed) being a fight.)

Husband will be a groomsman so will be on my own for ceremony/most of reception Ceremony and reception are at the same place which is good. 530pm ceremony, 6pm cocktail hour, 7pm reception. Planning on bringing lots of snacks and new toys. Possibly even an iPad placed on silent for the ceremony. Give me all your advice!! Also how to navigate specific situations like.. the buffet line trying to hold plates and her hand… etc

Favorite toy for 6-9 mo babies??

Aside from my face and hair, I think my LO’s favorite toys are grass and sticks, a crinkly pepper, and a home thermometer. She’s 6 mo, and the rattles and stuffed animals that fascinated her a month ago have lost their spark. What does your LO love?

Toy sets/activities for 3 year old?

I have a newborn and toddler at home. While I'm caring for my newborn I feel ny toddler gets bored. Right now he's playing with play doh & coloring throughout the day when I'm busy. We also go to the park every other day. Any other at home toy sets/activity recommendations?

Is "no containers" really beneficial?

We tried the no container method with my 7 month old, and now our pediatrician thinks he's delayed. He's not sitting yet at 7.5 months. He can roll really well though, pushes up almost to hands and knees, and bears weight on his legs when held in a standing position. The only container he's been in regularly is the high chair at meal times. We do tummy time and practice sitting literally all day long while we play. Our pediatrician has contacted early intervention for us. I hope he's sitting before the intake appointment next month. My 4 year old was sitting unassisted at 6/7 months and we used all kinds of containers, exersaucer, walker, jumper, bouncer, sit me up, swing, you name it. I know all kids are different but I can't help but think that the lack of sitting up in a container has contributed to him being behind.
