What age to stop camera baby monitor
Hi everyone, We have a camera baby monitor installed in my daughter's room. She turns 3 next month. In general, I have been using it mostly as a communication device at this point because at night we run white noise in her room and a fan in ours, and I want to be able to hear her easily if she needs me. She knows she can talk to me through the monitor - she also knows that I can see her. At what point is it an invasion of privacy? And how would we work around the communication issue - get her a walkie talkie? We're looking at converting her toddler bed to a full bed this summer and I am wondering if ditching the monitor should be a part of this "big girl room" transformation or not. Thanks in advance!

Is everyone doing enrichment activities with their infants?
Because I’m definitely not and am now a wee bit concerned I should be. He’s two months old. I talk to him, sure, because I like to talk to him. Sometimes I sing at him. I bounce him. But I am not trying to fill my day up with baby activities. I just want him to be happy/content. If he is asleep, great. If he’s grunting happily on the sofa next to me, awesome. Legit any activity I do is because he seems upset and I want to fix it not because I’m trying to optimize anything or keep him busy. Any chance I have I am doing stuff I want to do—chores, playing with dog, organizing, eating, showering, tv, working on side projects, etc. I do try to limit him watching the tv because while that does distract him I can’t imagine it’s good for developing his depth perception. I basically feel like my goal is a not crying baby and as long as that’s achieved and he isn’t in a container all day I’ve done well. No?

Overnight sleeping in a swing, car seat?
Just had the 1 month appointment, and pediatrician thinks my LO may have reflux so she told us he shouldn't be sleeping on his back EVER & to have him sleep in a car seat or swing. Has anyone heard of this?? I am so anxious to do this, everything I've read says to never do this/baby should always be on back in his bassinet

Strapped to a changing table on a dresser. Okay to walk away for 30-60 seconds?
I needed to grab something and she became angry that I'd walk away with her that high up even though she's strapped down securely. Am I being careless or is my wife being anxious? (4 months old)

What do two working parents do for a kindergartner in the summer?
Pretty much the title. My wife and I work 9 to 5s every weekday and just realized summer will be here and we're not sure what to do to keep our child occupied. My mother watches our 1 year old and I don't want to leave my older child there every weekday all week as the boredom would be nuts. My mother is also not able to pick up or drop for any events. Plus taking care of both of them for long periods of time would drive her insane. What are the options? Summer camp? We don't have the money to pay about $200 a week for 3 months so our child could enjoy her time. I don't want to waste my child's time all summer and we can only take two weeks of that off as a family. What do you do?

I am scared to give birth to a 10lbs baby and i need helpful advice please
So I am due very very soon with my first child and he is going to be a big baby. At our last ultrasound when i hit 38 weeks he was measuring around 9 lbs and they said when i do give birth he will likely be 10lbs. His head was measuring at 41w 5d as of my 38 week marker so he has quite a large head as well. I am nervous about giving birth and i keep flip flopping on whether i should ask for a scheduled c-section or i should try to have him vaginally. I am also afraid of having a lot of taring and how easy recovery could be for what i do decide. I would like some advice or tips/tricks on things to help and even birth stories from anyone. I have been having a lot of anxiety around birth.

We need college decision help for daughter (17F) in therapy.
My kid (17F) recently got in trouble in high school (suspended) which brought a lot of things to light. She started seeing a therapist that believes she might not be mature enough (ready) for college. She has a great GPA, has already been accepted to a few colleges, and planned to go to a university about an hour away and stay in the dorms. Honestly, I could be in denial (optimistic), but my initial instinct would be to still let my daughter choose. We just hate for her to move out and do something foolish. How would you handle the situation? Compromise and go to the local university annex, state university, gap year? Unfortunately, due to deadlines we will need to make a decision sooner than later. Any thoughts?

Feeling like the worst mom and need support
I am feeling so badly and I don’t know how to feel better so I thought I would start here and see if anyone out there has had a similar situation and can help me feel like I’m not alone. My 4-year-old daughter was dancing in the living room back in January and fell weird and broke her collar bone! After weeks/months of being cautious we got the all clear Tuesday that she was healed and can resume normal activities. Wednesday night we decided to have her ride her scooter around the neighborhood since it had been so long. She rode for awhile and then slid somehow and fell on her arm and broke her elbow bad enough she needs surgery now. We had to go back to the orthopedic urgent care the day after our all clear! I feel horrible for her and hate she has to have surgery. She had a helmet on but please make your kids where elbow and knee pads so you don’t wind up like us. Please Reddit world, tell me someone can relate. Massive mom guilt here.

We weren’t an “athletic family.” We took more of a sample platter approach rather than going all in on any particular sport. But in the end we were winners. #sports #healthyliving @BeachwoodBison https://t.co/tzI3qVX63M

Baby “kissing” books
My 8 month old son has recently started touching his mouth to certain pictures when we read brown bear. He seems to focus on the people or animals faces rather than just random. It’s such an unusual behavior...like he’ll get close to the book and touch his lips to the picture (no pursing his mouth or anything of course), stay like that for 1-2 seconds, and then move back. Has anyone else seen this in their baby?

Thoughts on Nursing Bras and Clothing
Curious what people's thoughts are on nursing clothes and bras. What brands make comfortable, stylish, and functional nursing and pumping clothes? Any thoughts on the good, the bad, and the just plain awful?
