Weed secret

My husband got me some low dose THC/CBN mints. (Anything more than micro or low dose would make me paranoid. So unfair my life.) Anyway, I think I'm a better parent with it. The relaxed, fun mom I always thought I'd be l. The first time I took it, I looked at my 4 year old and thought, OHHH MY GOD, YOU'RE SOOO CUTE. HAVE YOU ALWAYS BEEN THIS CUTE?! I COULD STARE AT YOU ALL DAY. Then we played for 4 hours. So what do I do? Take a mint about 45 minutes before I see them everyday? Go to a psychologist? Switch to Xanax? What?

My kid asked me what the N word is.

A few days ago, they had a huge session at my kid's school. They talked about "The N Word" and how bad it is for people to use it. When I picked up my kid, she talked about this and she asked me what the N word is. I told her it is a very bad and offensive word and then she asked me: "But what is this word that it is so bad? OH MY GOD, IS IT NOOB?" I wanted to scream, it was so funny to me!

Is normal for a 14 y/o to still play with Barbies?

I myself had an obsession with Barbies, their accessories and all around miniatures. As much as I love my daughter playing with dolls, I am wondering if it’s something I should be concerned of. I think I stopped playing around 12 maybe 13. But I still liked having my toys until I was 16 and finally decided to part ways and gift them to my nieces. However she still full on plays with them. How old were your children when they stopped playing with Barbies?

“My Mommy loves pills!!”

My child told a clerk. The confused, horrified looks from the staff and shoppers as I tried to explain away that I had expressed my love and admiration to my allergy medication this morning prior to us leaving the house. It’s pollen season here in the Deep South. Please send help. I’m dying of embarrassment.

What age was your baby when you left them with someone else for 2 nights? How did it go?

Curious if there is an appropriate age to leave your baby with a relative for the weekend and if there are any specific times to avoid? Ie when they might feel more attached to mom and/or dad. Baby is 4 months old next week and we’re thinking of going somewhere for the weekend this summer and leaving him with either of our moms but I don’t want it to be a disaster (aka him bawling for mom the whole time, lol). Currently he doesn’t seem to mind who cares for him but I assume they get more attached down the road?

Starting to have negative feelings towards my husbands son

I‘m sorry this might sounds worse than it actually is and I already feel bad or wrong for saying this. But my husbands son (11) is causing me to have negative feelings. He’s just overall mean, lying, cheating and just does what he wants to do. He always trying to sneak or steal candy, always complaining about what I cook, he’s always messing with his two brothers ( one is my husbands 18, and one is mine 13). Then he will get physical but start crying and say they hurt him. He will hide his phone, switch,… to stay up till 5 am. He can’t do anything without his phone, like brush teeth, shower or even walk. He always talks back or interrupts everyone. And no matter how often you tell him he still does it. There is so much more… And everything I try to talk to my husband he finds an excuse for him. I know he’s only 11 but he’s so rude and misbehaves it’s driving me crazy.

[Preschool, 3-4yos] A kid beat up my kid at school today, first time experience.

Rationally, I know this is just something that happens, but I'm pretty furious at gut-level reaction. My kid is the meekest, quietest, least imposing 4yo ever. She's also tiny for her age. A boy in her class didn't like being told no on trying to mess with her physically, and unleashed on her in the next second, kicking, hitting, punching, landing a lot of blows. He was extracted from the classroom after staff got hold of him, and a formal incident report was drawn up. This is her first time experiencing unbridled physical violence like this, and it was fully confirmed (video review) that she did absolutely nothing to instigate or worsen the situation. One, do I take any steps in trying to address this with the school and confront them? Two, how do I help my kid process this?

Terrible Mother Alert

Oh no I've gone out for a drink with my colleagues while my Son is with his perfectly capable and wonderful Dad. (And I've only has a few pints as I don't drink much anyway!) Anyone else have "friends" that guilt you for anything you do for yourself? As I type this I've literally switched to diet coke.

Anyone else dying during the newborn stage right now?

1 week and a couple days old now and I am just struggling. I admit it was much harder the first couple days but it's still hard and I just have underlying anxiety throughout the day, I don't even know why! It's like I'm scared of my own baby or something... Plus, breastfeeding has been hell. Baby hasn't been latching well lately so I've been pumping and supplementing formula which makes it soo much easier. Thankfully I have my husband's support with me, he's been so strong through all this, I just wish he wasn't working still so he could at least be home with us all day for the month. I also have my parents support as I've been staying with them for this month and it's been so helpful. Just wanted to hear from others who are also in a similar stage as I am and can't wait for things to get better. Share the pain right? 🫠

My Boys Bathroom…🤢

Please help me!! So my boy’s (6 & 8) bathroom STRONGLY, STRONGLY SMELLS of urine! No matter what I clean it with it’s still there! It’s in the middle of my house so it’s starting to make my house smell! I thought it was just having young boys but my 8 year old will go in there not lift the seat and pees all over the toilet and floor and just walk out!! Like bruh (as he always calls me) why don’t you hold it ? or pay attention to what your doing?? My 6 year old will raise the seat but his aim isn’t perfect, he just started to stand to pee because “bubba does” … but I can’t handle the smell anymore!!

Is there an app for tracking your kid’s library?

Specifically one that lets you export or share the list? I’ve been tracking on a spreadsheet but it seems like it would be way easier to just scan the book barcode into an app.

Daycare waitlist- what would you do?

We have been on the waitlist for our local daycare since before baby was born in January. We do not need daycare until August (I am a teacher off in summer and a grandma is watching for the rest of this school year). We got a call that there is an infant opening starting in May and we are next on waitlist. We would have to pay full price ($950/mo) for May, June, July even though we do not need the care. So that’s $3000 we do not need to spend. We can pass and hope another spot opens up? There is no other daycare that has infants within 20 min drive. And many others are more expensive. What would you do? Waste $3000 or take the risk that another spot will open?

I have a hairy husband

I would like some suggestions regarding a problem I am experiencing. My husband sheds a lot of hair and all over his body, so his hair strands are everywhere, on the bed, the washroom counter, and on the furniture, which worries me since I have a newborn. Yesterday, I found a hair strand on my baby's face and one on his milk bottle nipple, and I'm scared my baby will swallow it. While my husband wants to help me, he says shaving is not an option because there is so much hair and so much work involved.

Anyone else having trouble getting outside with baby?

I know things will get better as it gets warmer - I just wanted to vent a little bit. My baby was born at the end of December and for the first month of her life we lived in a basement with fairly good lighting, but still a basement. It’s been snowing here ever since then and that apartment was out in the country, so no sidewalks to push a stroller down. Then we moved in with my parents and it’s a huge step above the basement, but there are still no sidewalks and the road is way too gravelly for a stroller, so we’ve only taken her out in her sling, pretty rarely because it’s so cold and snowy. She doesn’t particularly love to be all bundled up. We drove her out to a walkable area and took her in the stroller once which was nice, but it’s pretty out of the way. Anyway, she’s 3 months now and I feel sort of bad that she’s been all cooped up inside. Plus she’s sick now, so I don’t want to take her out at all. Sigh. I eagerly await spring weather!
