What's a small secret that will blow your kids' minds if/when they find out?

Not talking about Santa or the tooth fairy or parents being siblings or anything like that. Just those little things. I can think of two examples with my kids: 1. We have a storage compartment in our couch that they've never seen open. We mostly keep games in it but also use it to hide toys that we want to go away for a bit. They have no idea it's there. 2. They think Cinnamon toast crunch is "spicy" and refuse to try it. We may have encouraged this...one day they will figure it out.

Why did your toddler cry today?

My 2 yo had a meltdown because her socks came off with her pants while undressing to take her bath. I had to put them back on so she could take them off herself 😅 Please share your stories with me I need a good laugh

1yr of Breastfeeding!

We made it to 1 year! It was hard, but we made it through the thick and thin of it. I’m just so proud and had to share with someone about it.

Car seat vs. Booster

My 4 year old has reached the minimum requirements for the booster seat of his car seat, but is still within the range for rear facing. Should I wait until he maxes out the rear facing range? Edit: he’s currently forward facing with a 5 point harness. He’s too big for rear facing.

Perhaps boys’ response to school is entirely reasonable when we consider the school experience from boys’ point of view. https://t.co/ELQvZ6yRKa https://t.co/KGRFt7Ncxa

Easter Bunny Conundrum

My LO is almost 7 months and we are putting together an Easter basket for her. The issue is, I'm not a huge fan of the Easter bunny. I didn't understand it as a kid and I don't think I want to bring it into my new family. I still want to give her a basket from us but with no association to the Easter bunny. Luckily she's too little to understand it this year, but how would I go about it next year? My sister's kids believe in the Easter bunny so they might mention it to her. I also don't want her to ruin the magic (so to speak) for other kids.

The teacher, when she begins work in our schools, must have a kind of faith that the child will reveal himself through work. She must free herself from all preconceived ideas concerning the levels at which the children may be. -Montessori, #family

My toddler is starting daycare next week and I’m terrified.

My toddler recently turned two, she was born right at the very beginning of the pandemic in March 2020. She’s spent her whole two years with just me and her grandparents. I take her out all the time but she’s never really socialized with children her age. I’m lucky that my parents take care of her during the day but I really think she needs to socialize with her peers. She’s never been away from her grandparents or me and I have so many fears regarding putting her in daycare that include things such as her crying, throwing tantrums, not making friends, not liking the food there, etc. Did anyone else feel this way when their kiddos started daycare or school for the first time?

When did your child began to talk?

Hey all, Curious to when everyone's child began to talk, like say mama or dada alot. Curious because our 14 month old still refuses to talk a lot. He has pronounced ma or da here and there also says bye... but very rarely. Babbles a lot still. BUT, his motor function is super good. He started to walk at 10-11 months. And now is climbing everything like a monkey. Super active. Opens and feels books by himself. Is it just different for every kid? I feel like, because he walked pretty early that his talking will come a little late. These pediatrician papers they make us fill out for his 15 month checkup are asking if your kid says 2-3 word sentences a long with mama or dada. Kinda hate these evaluations papers.. Feel like he will just randomly start talking. He was a late crawler.. but then one day he got the hang of it and poof. couple months later and hes walking early. Hoping that's the same way for talking. Anyone? Thanks.

having an iud sucks!! mild rant

i’ve had the depo shot, the patch & the pill in the past. stuck with the pill for 2 years or so and got pregnant about 1.5 years later. i chose the paraguard iud (in january) because it’s has no hormones & i could forget about it and hopefully not get pregnant again for a while. except it won’t let me forget about it 🙄 i’m not bothered by the heavy periods but the pain?? omg my last cycle ended march 26th everyday since then i have been cramping & had been spotting only in my discharge. i’ve been taking 800 ibuprofen(my uterus laughs at tylenol) but i don’t want to rely on it until i’m ready to try for another child. why can’t the men use birth control instead 😭

My 3.5 year old son is in his “I love you” phase…he tells me this like 100 times a day, sometimes over and over and over. What is the psychology behind this?

Don’t get me wrong, I love it, it just curious as to the psychology behind it.

What types of hobbies are you into right now?

LO is 10.5 months and keeps me on my toes all day long but I want to pick up a hobby to do after she is asleep for the night. Not the greatest at crafts but would definitely be willing to learn and practice! I'd love to hear about your hobbies to get some ideas :)

When and how did you know if you had PPA/PPD?

4 months PP. I go back and forth between being fine, then panicking about big things or just day to day things and then I’m zoned out. Wash rinse repeat every day. Am I just sleep deprived or do I need to seek some professional help? I feel like 4 months out is a little late for this to be creeping up on me.
