My 8-year-old just told me she’s gay
Daughter: hey Mom, is it ok if I’m gay? Me: Sure! Of course... but...do you know what gay means? Daughter: Yes, it means I like girls and not boys. I’m gay. Me: ok then I’m totally fine with my kiddo being gay. I’m just not sure how seriously to take this, or how to respond. Is she going through a ‘boys are icky’ stage or did my daughter really just come out to me? I just want to be supportive without overblowing the situation. Help please.

As much as we try and be present and supportive, we can’t be everything for everyone. We aren’t going to be able to give 100% as a parent, employee, friend, partner, child, sibling, etc. In this season of life—as a mother to a little guy—I remind myself that I’m in a season of receiving. I cannot be anyone’s primary support person because I am responsible for the complete needs of a tiny human. It’s not fair to me and those around me to expect that kind of support. What does that mean? I can still be a good friend and a present partner, but I’m not going to be who I used to be. That doesn’t mean I can’t give more in the future, but right now I have a responsibility to care for myself and my family and that’s where I draw the line. 🍊3-Ingredient Orange Creamsicles...to help soothe a cold, teething relief, or as a refreshing snack on a warm day! These are SO easy to make and are bursting with fruit flavor. They're loaded with Vitamin C and probiotics and are one of my favorite things to offer when my kids have colds or sore throats (there is a lot of that going around lately). And with the temps suddenly summer-like where we are this week, they’ve been our go-to afternoon snack! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 👉🏻Click the link in my yummytoddlerfood profile for the full recipe, links to my favorite popsicle molds, and allergy subs. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ And swipe to see us making them! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #toddlerfood #toddlersnack #popsicles #easysnack #summersnack ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ https://www.yummytoddlerfood.com/recipes/desserts/orange-creamsicle-pops-to-fight-the-flu/

Do you see how many kids are gathered around that old apple? 5 of them! And why? It’s an old apple that was sitting on the countertop for at least a week! Why are they all of a sudden dying to get a piece? Because I cut it. Once I cut a piece of fruit or a vegetable something MAGICAL happens. They all want some. That my friend, is creating behavioral momentum. It’s getting things going. How can I “cut the apple” in other ways? ⚪️Read the first chapter of a book. ⚪️Build a block tower for them to knock down. ⚪️Pull out a board game and set it up. ⚪️Hand them the cleaning supplies and say “Thanks for all your help!” Cut the apple. You’ll laugh how many times I think of that silly analogy. Do your children love bite size pieces too? In what other ways do you “cut the apple” to create momentum? ✨More great info about behavioral momentum in my stories today. ❤️

Thank you, @DLeonhardt for putting the risk of Covid to kids into real, statistical perspective. I took your article and subbed in "Stranger Danger" for "Covid" to try to add some perspective, too. You are right: Aiming for zero risk involves risk. https://t.co/7huUUlo2KP

👋 Hey, I'm Holly! I’m a baby + toddler safety expert: certified pediatric first aid instructor, car seat instructor (CPST-I) and childproofing/injury prevention professional. 〰️ bright colors make a difference 〰️ The weather’s heating up and you may find yourself water-side in the coming weeks. When it comes to swimwear for children, please consider purchasing swimwear that doesn’t blend in with water or nature easily. AVOID colors like: blue, green, white and INSTEAD opt for bright colors like: red, yellow, orange, pink Brighter colors are easier to spot if you happen to lose sight of a child momentarily. Remember, best practice is to be within arm’s reach of a young child anytime they are in or around water. Have you purchased an awesome brightly-colored swimsuit for your little one? Share the details below to help out other parents!👇

Being a parent is one of the most rewarding yet exhausting journeys in life. Taking time out is a MUST in order to give your little ones 100%. So mums and dads, don’t feel guilty, sometimes being selfish is not only best for you, but it’s best for your family 🤜🤛
