Sick kid. Mil wants to use colloidal silver nasal spray.

FUCK THAT NOISE. My husband says he was so good when he had it growing up. It causes neuro damage, heart rate increase, etc. plus it’s just a bunch of garbage! I’m trying to find a good article to try to convince her and him issues with it. I’m so mad

When do hormones change with weaning?

I've been slowly weaning my 15 month old from breastfeeding. I only nurse him twice a day—after breakfast or during bedtime—and for the last month, only when he asks. So I don't ever offer, but I don't refuse when he signs to me that he wants to nurse during our normal nursing times. It's getting to the point that I nurse maybe once a day or once every other day. I've heard about hormones fluctuating when you wean (lower oxytocin and prolactin) causing moms to feel a bit "down" but... when does that hormone shift ACTUALLY start happening? Is it already happening to me because he's not nursing very often? Or is it something that happens more all at once when he's truly stopped nursing? All the websites I read talk about weaning and hormone shifts as if it happens all at once and it's very confusing because I'm not weaning all at once. Basically, I'm trying to discern if my mood is a bit down from weaning or if that mood shift is still in my future. Any information would be helpful.

It’s been 45 days since I asked HR about maternity leave policy, still no answer

I’ve asked for an update every 1-2 weeks and they keep saying they will give me an answer soon. They said they would give me an answer a month ago, by the end of the week. Keep pushing it later and later. I don’t know what they’re trying to do here. What can I do but wait forever?

Mother wound stuff

Anyone else going through this? My mom and I have kind of always had a strained relationship, but when I was pregnant she made it a big deal that she’d be there for me post partum. First two weeks she stopped by often, wanted to hold the baby for a bit, and leave. When my baby was about six weeks old she scolded me for ‘spoiling him’ & we got in a tiff. I told her our bond is important to me, & that I’m his mother. Now he’s four months old, and she hasn’t seen him since. Feeling really alone in motherhood, & sad that I ruined my son’s chance at a grandma.

Raise your mf hand if your toddler has traumatized you today

My 16 month old, seemingly budding sociopath of a son (bless him) has just screamed bloody murder for three hours. Three straight hours. Why you ask? Only god in heaven knows that. My ears are shot, my nerves are fried, my ability to regulate my emotions has left the mf building and I am left alone with my trauma. So, anyone else today?

PSA: Next week is Teacher Appreciation Week.

While you're out and about this weekend, be sure to pick up something for your kids' teachers. Teachers work so hard, they are tragically underpaid, and they often lack adequate support from administration. Good gifts ideas: Hand-written notes, gift cards, and cash. Avoid: Candles and mugs.

Is this safe sleep for 5 month old?

First he started rolling to sleep on his side, and now he sometimes flips completely to sleep on his stomach. He doesn’t know how to turn from stomach to back yet so wakes up and needs our help if he needs to turn back. Is stomach sleeping safe in this situation?

No diaper can contain him??

Baby boy is 5 months and about 18 pounds, has been wearing Huggies since birth and we’ve loved them… until recently. Almost every poop he takes is coming out the leg hole and warrants an outfit change. It’s not necessarily that he has a lot of poop; it just always leaks. He went up to size 3’s maybe a month ago and he’s appropriately within the Huggies sizing chart range. What do I do? Go up a size anyway? Try a different brand? Something else?

Solo Weekend Away for Mother’s Day?

So instead of asking for a present, I decided to just take a trip to my favorite local getaway, a boujee desert town that is a 5 hour peaceful drive away. Having a bit of mom guilt for leaving Mother’s Day weekend but I really need it. Anyone else leaving their family for Mother’s Day? (For context, my son is only 18m. He doesn’t know it’s Mother’s Day.)

Can I use a oatmeal and raw honey goat milk soap on my babe?

Okay this may be a silly question as I know children under 1 should not eat honey at all, but my babe has sever bum rash and I don’t know what to do anymore. I’ve tried: different brands of diapers and wipes, Destin, Destin Max, Aquaphor Baby , calmoseptine, destin max with the aquaphor on top. I’ve been changing my babes bum regularly, and asap when my babe poops so they are not sitting in it. I let the bum completely dry before putting any product on it, and make sure the diaper isn’t super tight to the bum. So here I am wondering if I could use oatmeal and raw honey goat milk soap to help sooth the bum during bath time. Is it safe since it’s in soap? I just don’t know what to do.

Clitoral pain postpartum?

I gave vaginal birth to my daughter 10 days ago, and the last week I’ve had pretty bad clitoral pain/soreness/discomfort. I actually had my obgyn test me for a UTI on Wednesday because I couldn’t really tell if it was my clitoris area or urethra, as I had a catheter placed twice during/after delivery. I had no tears/rips during birth, but she was crowning for a good 5 minutes (might have been longer honestly I kinda blacked out from the pain/pressure lol) and that was all stretched and felt like it was being ripped in half. Anyone else experience this and for how long? I can feel the discomfort if I try to do a kegel if that makes sense, as well as just walking/sitting/using the bathroom, etc. the UTI meds I was given until results come in haven’t helped either so I’m thinking it may not be a UTI. Thanks!

My wife refuses to get a babysitter!

We have a 2 Yr old and a 2 Month old, it's a handful since our 2 year old has severe eczema. Our older son has been going to daycare, but they cannot cater to his skin condition to keep it under control. I suggested a babysitter can be attentive enough to help our older son, and also take care of the baby. The average rate for a babysitter is at least $20/hr in my area, and my wife thinks it is a ripoff since she thinks she can do better. She makes +$100k a year, and feels that she has to quit in order to justify spending that much on a babysitter. She also thinks that she can handle the whole situation by herself, but clearly is overwhelmed, and drags me into it by making me take care of the kids simultaneously with my remote job. This has affected my ability to work and now I am under a performance plan. Not sure what I can do before my wife calls me crazy or decides to argue with me about how to spend money.
