Performative nature of yoga classes - views
Iโve always been a bit wary of the performative nature of many yoga classes - where music, incense and candle light as well as props and accoutrements make it feel staged and like theatre - I get some of the ritual aspects but wonder if it detracts or enhances classes and peoples awareness and insights from the actual practices of yoga ? Open to views no axe to grind as I am exploring this having been wary previously ๐๐

Quads doing all the work in Warrior
Hi, Iโm a beginner, starting my practice online with videos (and also relatively new to Reddit please be kind). I canโt stay in warrior or a high lunge for more than like 2-3 seconds. I can feel my quads do all the work and they scream at me to stop what Iโm doing. What can I do to take the load off my quads and build from the pelvic floor? I try to squeeze my glutes but not sure if thatโs the right approach here. Iโm also a heavier person if that matters. Thank you in advance. ๐

Candlelight flow and yin: good for first class?
Hey there! Iโm very excited to go down the yoga rabbit hole and was planning on taking my first class tonight being a candlelight flow and yin class. I called the studio and they said it was good for beginners, but I am wondering if anyone here can confirm that this class is a good option for my first class? After reading the yin description on this page i am nervous it may be too difficult for me. Thanks!!

Accessible/underrepresented yoga instructors online?
Hi, I'm compiling some reasources to accompany Mental Health Awareness Week in the UK, and I'm looking for some yoga teachers. Specifically: accessible / adaptive yoga, videos by/for marginalised bodies and videos made me POC. Ideally on YouTube and affordable but that can be flexible. If anyone has recommendations, I'd be really grateful. Thanks!
