So tired of the negative comments

“He never shuts the f*** up!!” “Our son is an a**hole” “Why doesn’t this kid ever. F***ing. shut. up!!” Because he’s a goddamn *toddler* you asinine, soulless, emotional equivalent of a cucumber, compassion-less, used up tampon of a man. (This man used to get mad at him for crying too much when he was a newborn too) I finally stood up to him yesterday and told him to stop coming home to try to work from home because he should know better that our son is a toddler and he cannot conceptualize the idea of being quiet because “dad is working” . I told him it is infuriating to listen to him say cruel things about our son when he is just a baby . Then he gave me a very huffy “I just won’t come home then” I said okay 👍 Edit: typos from rage typing

15 year old cannot fall asleep!!

Does anyone have any tricks to get your kid to fall asleep? My daughter is currently on summer break and since she was roughly 12 I never really had any set bedtime for her during the summer. Recently she’s been having a crazy difficult time trying to fall asleep, I would assume her ADHD has something to do with it, but it has never affected her sleep before. We’ve tried everything; sleeping in the dark, limiting phone use as it gets later, a cool room, drinking water, melatonin, and even her soccer practice doesn’t make her tired. I feel terrible, advice please?

Miss Rachel in other languages?

I'm a fan of Miss Rachel and watch her videos myself to get an idea of how to help my baby reach language milestones. However, I'd like for my baby to learn Russian-- my partner and I are fluent but our baby is surrounded by English, so we try to expose the baby to Russian as much as possible at home. Does anyone know of a Miss Rachel like account in Russian? Or for that matter, in any other languages? Maybe other parents in the group could benefit. Thanks!

Bilingual babies

Not pregnant yet but have had a debate with my parents on the best way to teach my babies Spanish and English. I’m the oldest and was spoken to strictly in Spanish when I was a baby. When I went to first grade (was in bilingual kinder) I didn’t know any English and therefore had to be put in ESL for a few weeks. I remember crying because I was so confused in class but this only lasted a few weeks and excelled in class otherwise. To be fair, my Spanish is significantly better than my siblings since I would speak English to them before they were in school, so they got a mix of both..My mom seems to think that speaking to babies in both languages will result in them half understanding both.. what is your experience? I would hate for my kids to have to go to ESL lol

Poll: If Hand, Foot, and Mouth disease has had 3 cases at daycare, is our baby basically definitely gonna get it?

The daycare operates as clean as they possibly can, but three babies out of 10 have had confirmed cases so far. I’m not panicked, I know it’s not serious, but is it pretty much certain our daughter will get it? Asking for answers from experience.

Doctor called toddler borderline obese?

Toddler is 15 months old, 31 inches tall, weighs 21 pounds, pediatrician said baby's borderline obese. Is this true? Baby gets milk, veggies, fruit, puffs, eggs, varied diet and walking. Is this right? If so, what nutritional changes should I do? Or just focus on active playtime (which toddler gets already)? Pediatrician had no other advice and said do whatever works.

Wanna test your sanity?

Get a puppy. Potty train TWO living things at once. Wanna REALLY test it? Get a notoriously difficult breed for potty training. My life revolves around everyone’s bowel movement’s and their continued insistence on not going where they’re supposed to

Lifelong gift ideas for boys?

I'm looking for an equivalent of things that girls are given as young children like christening rings and those little bracelets that are adjustable, but for boys... I don't want to do a necklace as he's nearly 2 and it's a choking hazard.. any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

All the little noises

I love all the little noises my 1 month old makes, his little coos and gurgles. Both his father and I snore, and we've noticed he also snores, and they're the cutest little snores in the world! Even the little grunts he makes when he's pooping fill me with absolute joy... I can't wait until he's laughing and talking! Anyone else just absolutely in love with their little lovelies noises 🩷🩷

I'm in a slump

I don't like cleaning, I feel like most people don't particularly enjoy cleaning BUT I especially hate it because whatever I get done during naps will be undone within 10 minutes of getting the children up from naps. Rinse and repeat, 7 days a week. I'm over it. But the messy house also really messes with my already clinically depressed and anxious brain. Today my fantasy is to move into a tiny apartment, borderline claustrophobic, where there's no one but me and messes that are cleaned up fucking STAY THAT WAY!!!

Question/advice- newborn peeing out of diaper, wetness indicator not triggered

2.5 week old boy, nb size diapers. Several instances of a soaking wet pee spot in the middle of his back (almost looks like a back sweat stain) but the diaper moisture indicator is completely unchanged. We’ve tried sizing up diaper (size 1 is way too big on him), pointing his penis in different directions, and tightening up how we fasten the diaper (we’re also diligent about ensuring the ruffles are extended all the way around on each side). This also happens in a super fresh diaper so also likely not attributable to consuming the absorption capacity…nothing is working and we have no idea how this is happening. Any similar experience or suggestions/advice?

Keeping sane?

My husband just left on a plane to another state for 4 days. This isn’t the first time I’m alone with LO, but it’s the first time she’s this age (6 months). Her wake windows are like 3 hours now so…finding fun things to do is a challenge! I normally look forward to him coming home around 4pm and then sharing baby with him while I shower and take dogs out etc. Family help is out of the question unfortunately. How do I stay sane? Not that I don’t absolutely love hanging out with my baby, but man there’s only so much I can take the kick n play. Oh and it’s supposed to rain everyday. 🙃 Just wondering what activities y’all do with your similar aged baby?

Best Way To Keepsake 8 Years Of Photos And Videos Of My Little One?

Maybe this isn’t the best place to check, but I figured a parent would know best. My iPhone has been screaming at me for the past couple months letting me know that it’s full beyond capacity on storage. From my little ones first steps to her smile, to the small pointless picture. I know letting go of some of them would save money, but my heart just can’t. A flash drive or some type of storage device was an option but then I began fearing it could end up being corrupted. I want to print them, knowing that is the safest way, but it’s 5,000 photos. Cheapest I’ve found was Walmart at .12 a photo. But that ends up being $600 and that’s a hard pill to swallow as well. Is anyone aware of a company that does bulk printing at a lower cost? Or a self printing option that would be more cost effective? Also, 2,000 videos. What would I be able to do to keepsake these? Thank you all.

Toddler won't stop climbing the couch

My very active, energetic 14-month-old is obsessed with climbing the couch and piano bench (and then standing up on said couch/bench and doing a frenzied victory dance). He is clumsy and has no concept of gravity, so this is terrifying. We have very hard floors and only the area immediately next to the couch is carpeted.  Other than watching him like a hawk, do you recommend: a) additional carpeting, b) some other way way of child proofing the couch/bench, c) behavioral training, such as time outs, and/or d) investing in some safe climbing structure, like a Pikler triangle, to redirect the climbing impulses? Concrete tips and product recommendations are welcome!
