COSTCO Trip

Kids-2f, 8f and 9m So not sure if this should go here and fyi its my 1st time posting. So on to the story ... Went to COSTCO today with the kids just doing our normal thing when all of a sudden 1 kid squeals really loud and yells "mommy". Now at this time I was grabbing a rotisserie chicken. The 2 yr old is in the cart next to me so I know she is fine. I turn around ready to look at the other two and tell them to not yell and prepared to yell at them for whatever shenanigans they are up too. So as I ask what's wrong they both look at me with excitement and yell "THEY HAVE SAMPLES AGAIN!!". You would have thought I had taken them to Disneyland or something. Their eyes were lit up like it was Christmas morning. I love these little moments that make my heart happy!

A FML moment

Today was my first day home totally alone with the babe. He is 20 days old and my fiancé went back to work. I had him napping in his crib and just finished pumping one boob while collecting milk in a Haakaa from my other one. Got up to check on him, leaned over the crib, Haakaa unsuctioned and spilled all my milk in the crib and on his head. it was my own fault and was a “I have to laugh to not cry” moment. Just wanted to share LOL.

In laws!

Without saying much, I would like to know how others deal with in laws? Mine do not understand privacy. Yesterday, I got out of the shower and my mil was going through my laundry basket where my underwear was to get clothes for my kid when I already had clothes ready (she knew before I went for the shower). The basket was in my room, door closed. Having a tough day, I want to clarify I like the in laws, but I also like my privacy.

My daughter says ‘mommy I hold you’

She says this when she wants me to hold her. She is 2. Monday night after work I get home and she reaches up to me and states this. I almost brushed her off but instead I picked her up. She hugged me so tight and we sat in an embrace for a couple minutes before she got down. I thought to myself, wow I really needed that hug. It was so sweet and I immediately was happy that I didn’t brush her off. Tuesday night the same thing happened. She says ‘mommy I hold you’ right when I got home. So I pick her up and hold her tight. She just relaxed in my arms again for about 2 minutes and down to play she went. This time I thought, man it felt like she really needed that. Just to release the day into her moms arms. I just thought I’d share this loving moment. Sometimes we all just need to slow down and hug our babies.

Help 😭

What are you doing with your baby so that you can get stuff done? I have a bouncer, swing, pack n play, dome, all the goodies. I also try laying a blanket on the ground with some toys and books. But he lasts 5 minutes at most before he’s crying. I’m started to get really frustrated and feel like I’m a bad mom. He also doesn’t like the carrier or wrap 😭 I’m in a due date group on Facebook and I feel like I’m the only one who doesn’t have this figured out! EDITED TO ADD: He will be 4 months old this Sunday.

I’m really struggling and I need to ask a question

if you’re having a depression breakdown and wanted to get help at a place like a mental hospital and you can arrange childcare, would the state take your child away? Or investigate you? I really need help but I don’t want to lose my baby

Physical therapist puts her fingers in my sons mouth.

My son is 4 months old. He gets PT for tight neck muscles. He’s drooling and constantly eating his hands and grabbing anything that goes near his face like a typical 4 month old. So yeah, when this lady puts her hands near his face and he grabs her hands, she says something like “oh do you want to eat my fingers?” in a baby voice and puts her fingers in his mouth to suck on them. He doesn’t pull her fingers into his mouth on his own. Ya’ll, this lady puts them in there. I quickly said “I have a paci that I would prefer you use” thinking she would get the hint, but she continues to do it each session. My husband says I can be a bit intimidating and harsh lol which is true so I was trying to be nice and hope she would get the hint every time I gave her the paci so she wouldn’t have to use her fingers to soothe him. Well that didn’t work. Today I said to her “please don’t put your fingers in my sons mouth”. Wtf 🤢🤮.

My 12 months old is rejecting me.

My daughter just turned 12 months a few days ago and 2 days after her birthday, she started to reject me. She screams, kicks and throws herself on the floor every time her father leaves her with me. Its very hard on me. Bedtime is the only moment she will allow me to even get close to her because I still breastfeed her before bed and during the night. I don’t know how to deal with it because I feel like an object. It’s like I’m a pacifier to be used when it’s time to sleep and to be discarded after :). I’m not sure what I did wrong. I stayed at home with her until she was 7 months old and I’m still the primary care giver (until 4 days ago). I guess it will all pass, but how to I cope until? I never realized how hard rejection from a baby can be for a parent.

Our Children’s Future

Other parents, how do you grapple with your/our children’s future with all that is crazy in this world? I recently had a little girl and I have to distract myself from worrying too much about the future for kids today regarding climate change impacts, over population, increased competition for schools and jobs, kids growing up too fast these days, negative impacts of social media, etc. I want to get my brain to a place of positive and more hope for her future!

Realistically, how often are your bottles and pump parts getting sterilized? And should I get that special baby dish soap?

This is a cross post from r/pregnant and someone suggested I post on here too. FTM here 33 weeks and I’m starting to clean and sterilize all the bottles, pacifiers and pump parts this week but I’m now realizing what a chore it’s going to be if I have to wash and sterilize everything every day. I have a Dr.Browns microwave sterilizer (I don’t have a dishwasher btw). I’m reading mixed opinions online about how often to sterilize things and I guess it also depends on if the baby is preterm? I’m just not sure what is best to do but also realistic time wise for a new mom. Would washing bottles and pump parts in hot water every day be okay and then sterilizing once a week? Also, is that baby dish soap by Dapple or Babyganics any better than Dawn soap?
