Hospital bag
What are some of the things that in hindsight you should have and should have not packed into your hospital bag? My sister is currently expecting and I've already advised her to carry extra water, snacks, change of clothes for husband etc.

It's not enough for teachers to only have a sound system for planning and facilitating relevant lessons. They also need to intentionally monitor student engagement and learning. @JorgeDoesPBL @edutopia https://t.co/lNlfxujGaD

So, how are y’all handling Santa Claus?
What do new parents do with the Santa Claus story during the holidays? I don’t want to lie to my son but also don’t want to deprive him of that magic and wonderment that comes with the season. There are also other, materialistic and ethical reasons not to but… pictures with Santa were always a big thing for me and my little brother growing up, well into our 20s. What do? ( we aren’t religious so we don’t observe any religious traditions.)

If fat helps babies brain develop, do thin babies have weaker brain development?
I'm sorry about this question but it's something I've been thinking about. Is that even linked? What about babies who fall sick a lot due to various reasons and lose weight?

Budget for the holidays-am I cheap?
In one of my group chats one mom asked how much we budget for Christmas. I answered $500 and she asked if that was per child. That is for our entire family. And now I’m feeling bad, am I being cheap? We can afford to spend more but is it necessary? We have one child, our daughter is going to be 4 this year. I usually keep her presents under $100. I also thrift and do yard sales a lot so I already spent about $30 on a few toys this fall including a calico critters dollhouse from a yard sale. I spend about $100 on my husband and then try to keep extended family at $50 or lower. I make homemade gifts for others (vanilla extract, jams, sewn items) that we see at the holidays that end up being under $10 a piece. Am I being too frugal? This doesn’t include food and alcohol we buy and for events and holiday meals. What does your budget look like for the holidays?

My kid is about to get kicked out of preschool-feel like a failure.
Mostly the title. She’s 3.5. She has really really bad separation anxiety like abnormal severe anxiety and it hasn’t really improved in the 3 weeks since the start of school. Her behavior is now affecting all the other kids and her teacher said “we need to decide if she is really school ready”. I totally get why they don’t want her if this behavior continues. I don’t want to force her and have her hate school. Is therapy useful in this case? Anyone have any advice?

Not all kids are into #sports, and that's ok! The most important aspect of getting your child more #active is to find something they love to do. Here are some #activityideas for children that don't love team sports: https://t.co/WTsL5OsH6n https://t.co/ZBwyqvu8v4

In-Laws Visiting Newborn After International Medical Aid Trip
Timing-wise, I may have my baby while my in-laws are on a trip in Brazil providing medical aid to people along the Amazon. My MIL is super worried about missing the baby being born and they are going to want to visit as soon as they get back from their trip. I haven’t discussed this with my husband yet, but I have a feeling he’s going to think that them visiting immediately upon their return is fine. They are vaccinated for everything, but I’m wondering, if you were in my position, how long upon their return would it be before you would be comfortable with them visiting your newborn? TIA!

Is my 4y old son the only child that doesn't like pizza?
Not that it's really an issue. He'd rather eat a slice of rye bread with butter than a slice of regular cheese pizza - regardless of brand, fresh or frozen. It's a good thing and I'm not concerned. I just never met a child that doesn't like pizza and I'm curious... lol

Why am I being told what I should do just because people want to see my baby?
There's this Halloween thing going on and a whole bunch of people that my husband and sister know from work and the clients that they work for will be there. My mom is telling my husband to RSVP for it, that people want to see the baby. Okay? Why are you telling us what to do just because other people want to see the baby? Why do people do this? I don't HAVE to do something just for someone I don't know to meet the baby. Sorry. The audacity of people.... 😫

Is maternal caloric intake linked to the nutrient density of breastmilk?
I am EBF, my four month old and curious whether what I eat truly affects the composition of my breastmilk. I find it very stressful trying to make sure I’m eating a balanced diet and enough calories. At first, I was eating so much to make sure I was making enough milk that I was gaining weight. I’ve started eating less but then I feel like baby is more hungry, so I’m trying to balance it somewhere in the middle and eating when I’m hungry. Baby is already in the single digit to teen weight percentiles so I’m worried about this.
