Did anyone else feel like they recovered unusually quickly?

I feel almost guilty posting this since so many of you will have had / are having difficult postpartum recoveries, but I feel like I haven't identified with any posts about the first few weeks after having a baby. So, my baby boy was born 8 weeks ago by emergency c section. The consensus I have seen online seems to be that it takes at least 6 weeks, or longer, to recover from that kind of birth. However, in all honesty I felt 100% back to normal after 3 weeks and now at 8 weeks I feel guilty still being on maternity leave since I've felt fine for so long. Obviously I'm loving bonding with my baby but even though I've gone through a whole pregnancy and pretty scary birth, I almost feel like I don't deserve the time off or that something about my experience is 'wrong' in a way. Has anyone else had this kind of recovery and/or guilt?

A journal isn't a friend or a therapist or counselor — it's not going to fix your problems. But it will help you find out more about yourself. https://t.co/CG7VJItS7y

Not sure what to do with my child’s name??

Long story short, I had my daughter 8yrs ago pretty much alone. Her father and I split while I was 3-4months pregnant. He disappeared throughout the entire pregnancy, so when I had her I gave her my last name (my fathers last name) and vowed to raise her alone. He’s not on any paperwork or certificate stating he’s the father. After birth, he chose to come around, he isn’t the ideal father but he still sees her whenever he can. Fast forward to today (8yrs later)…I got married with the man I truly love, my husband wants me to take his last name…that’ll leave my daughter with a last name none of her two parents have. Should I change her name too? Should I give her her fathers? Shouldn’t my last name match my children’s? Not sure if anyone has been in this situation before…

In our schools the environment itself teaches the children. The teacher only puts the child in direct contact with the environment, showing him how to use various things. -Montessori, #parenting

How did you answer the question “Glad to be back?” from coworkers?

Because no, Susan, I’m not.

I got a job! I just wish it paid more.

I've been a stay at home mom for over 10 years. Next week I start an actual job at a bank where I will be cross trained as a teller and banker. We have been struggling to make ends meet since the pandemic hit and I quit babysitting and DH quit his side jobs of soccer coaching and reffing. I told my mom my starting pay ($14.50 +commissions), and she was stunned. She said she made nearly that much over 20 years ago as a teller. I applied at multiple places that offered part time positions, and they all offered this as their starting pay. There are a few that advertised they offer more, but they only have fulltime positions available, and I can't do fulltime work right now. I'm super excited to be working again, and my mom is excited for me too (I don't want it to come off like she was being a downer or anything). It is just infuriating that wages have been stagnant this long.

Cold medicine for 15 month old??

Me and my 2 kids are sick. I only have Zarbees Cough and Mucus for 2yo+. I don’t have any meds for myself except for regular Tylenol. My oldest is 3 and my youngest is 15 months. I don’t have any money, no way to even get to a store, and I just moved into a transitional shelter, and my mother refuses to answer my calls. I’m having a breakdown, I feel so helpless. This woman says she’ll help me with anything yet never follows through when I need her. My oldest can’t keep anything down and just wants to lay down. He was burning up last night and couldn’t sleep. My youngest is doing alright but his symptoms are just like my oldest’s were 2 days ago so I’m preparing for it to get worse. It says not to give to kids under 2 but he meets the weight requirement (he’s 25 lbs). Should I give him some or not risk it? I don’t know what else to do.

Questions for parents whose kids are in little league and aren't stars..

My son is 5 and he is working on his football skills. He tries his best, and he goes to practice every day. Is it fair for me to be annoyed that he doesn't get any playing time? The coach has the same kid running the ball over and over and over. I get you're trying to win but there's no prize at the end. They're 5-6 years old, does this all matter? Let the kids get playing time and some game experience. My kid played 3 minutes in the 4th quarter and didn't even play in the 3rd quarter. He played a total of 3 minutes in 24 minutes. It was about 5 minutes in the first half. Am I just being a crybaby? I'm pretty open to hear opinions, I'm not stuck on this. Just don't like that we all pay the same but he barely plays any football during game time. That is all.

When did your marriage go back to normal?

Or at the very least, good but different? We're basically roommates at this point. We stopped hugging even. He doesn't kiss me on the forehead goodbye. We're passive aggressive when we aren't ignoring each other. I want to punch him in the damn throat most days. He's mopey and miserable. Couples therapy comments need not be wasted here. We have a 3 month old, no babysitters, it's Covid and money is tight.

Taking the time to be present with yourself and your emotions can be healing and gratifying. And that awareness can lead to connections — connections that lead to real change. @SharonSalzberg https://t.co/fb04Y7uFHC

Relationship changes after baby?

I feel like I hear a lot that having a baby has ruined a person's relationship with their significant other. I wonder how true this is or how common this is for other people. It makes me worried. My baby's father and I have not been together very long (about 2 years) and I don't want this to be the beginning of the end for us. I've also heard people say that having a baby has ruined their sex life too. Has having a baby made anyone's relationship better? If so, in what ways?

Strangers touching LO

Okay seriously what is with random strangers touching babies! We went to a restaurant with my husband's family and the restaurant had a small wait so we were sitting and waiting and this lady next to us just reaches over and starts messing with my babies hand.i get that she's cute and smiles at strangers but seriously we are still in a pandemic and you saw her putting her hands in her mouth what makes people think it's ok to just touch a strangers baby!
