Sent my kids to daycare on my day off because self care is important.

Work has been insanely busy for me lately and home has not been very easy either. My almost 5 year old is in a big not listening phase and my 22 month old is nursing multiple times an hour for some reason. And she still doesn’t sleep through the night and it’s been especially bad the past few weeks. So I sent them to daycare on my day off. I usually don’t because i felt guilty? (And I love my kids!) But why should I? It’s okay to not want to be with your kids during every second of your free time. I got a nap in, I got the dishes done, I drank my coffee in peace. I’m going to read my book. Run some errands kid free. Then I’ll pick them up a couple hours early. If you get a chance for some alone time and self care, TAKE IT! Sometimes we need to hit the reset button, you know?

Voting woes

My apologies if this post breaks a rule…I just needed somewhere to vent and this is my favorite place. I live in a small town in a Red state, and voting feels like trying to piss on a raging forest fire. Most of the elected positions I could vote for didn’t even have anyone running to oppose the Republican candidate. It’s just so disheartening to be a blue dot in a massively red field. How was everyone else’s experience, for those who voted today?

I’m so captivated by the video, I watch it three more times. It’s sweet, it’s brilliant, and I can’t get enough. I am a 51-year-old mom of three and I’m legit obsessed. @thrivew_aguide @VictoriasSecret #bodypositivity https://t.co/nGxoDjFsGc

I don't know how your day is going but ....

My 15YO just leaned into me and let me kiss the top of his head. Most days he communicates through grunts and eye rolls, so this bit of affection is an absolute win.

That big release of emotions after a day of holding it together at school is sometimes known as the after-school restraint collapse. And while it's totally normal, it doesn’t make it easy. Luckily, movement can help! Here's how: https://t.co/eUtgNB8UhC https://t.co/gxLHVEvMZy

First week and having so much fun

I cannot believe how happy and wonderful I feel. My son is 5 days old today and I cannot stop smiling. We had one day of constant feeding where I got no sleep but now I get an hour or two after each feed and I feel great! He’s a dream, I can’t stop touching him and kissing him. He’s nursing so well. We’re nested up on the bed, watching tv and being catered on by my husband. This is the best week ever. And my delivery? 10/10 would do it again. I have no pain and I’m so proud of what my body has done. After a really rough pregnancy I am so grateful to be enjoying this newborn bubble. That’s all. Thanks for listening. When I share this with family all I hear is “just you wait…”

Opinions, please, on potential school safety issue.

I’ve known for sometime that our elementary school playground doubles as a metro park. However, I’ve just learned that it is also OPEN to the public during school hours. It was my assumption, mostly because it has never been addressed otherwise, that it would be closed to the public during school hours and events. Am I crazy or is this crazy? Hilariously, we were recently given a police officer who monitors drop off and pick up. But I guess crime doesn’t happen out the back door. 😳

[massachusetts] father threatening to go to court for some reason i can’t even understand.

doesn’t even make sense really. he lives five hours away the kids are aloud to go there whenever he wants i’ve never once said no. i filed for child support and he finally got the court date so now he angry and said he’s going to file for visitation and i said why? because he’s aloud to see them whenever? and he said so that i’ll have to be the one to make the trip five hours away. he chose to move five hours away. we both lived in massachusetts never married. he says he can’t help with our three kids because he’s broke so he leaves me to pay for everything and now saying he doesn’t want to pay for the expenses to come get the kids either. please tell me a judge would never expect me to pay expenses to transport the kids to a place their father chose to move to

Having a 3rd baby is a bad idea right

I have 2, ages 3 & 5. Done with diapers, formula, soothers, waking in the middle of the night. That’s all behind me… so why do I want another baby. Financially and logistically it’s the wrong choice. But my uterus says otherwise. I shouldn’t do it, right?

Snoo affected newborn weight gain

As first time parents we were still trying to figure out LO’s cues for the first couple months. I also had a c section recovery so I didn’t pick him up from the bassinet as often as I would’ve liked. He had slower weight gain the first 4-6 weeks and looking back, the Snoo definitely contributed to the issue. What we thought was fussiness were hunger cues and the snoo would get him to sleep longer stretches. Once we stopped using the Snoo and responded to baby more often at night, we fed him more and he slept well without the snoo. Just wanted to warn new parents out there that this happened to us!

What songs can I sing to my son?

I love singing to my son. It makes him happy and it’s a great bonding experience for us. Of course, I sin* him the usual nursery rhymes like twinkle twinkle, hush little baby, row row row your boat, and et.cetra. I also like to switch up with “Broken”, “Humility”, “To Binge”, “Baby Queen”, and “El Manana” from Gorillaz and some Taylor swift songs. Does anybody else have other recommendations?

Unpopular opinion. If you don’t want anyone to kiss your baby don’t kiss your own baby either.

For the same reasons people always seem to list on why other adults shouldn’t kiss their baby. But somehow mum and dad kiss are immune from passing on nasties. It just comes off as controlling.

Realized my kids water bottle is dirty

I got my 5yo a water bottle at the beginning of the school year. I hand wash it about once a week, but today I realized that the tip separates into multiple parts… and it’s super dirty… turning black, but it washed off with soap, is that mold? What’s going to happen?? Do we need to go to our doctor?
