I don’t want to do Elf on the Shelf…
I told my in-laws I don’t want to but they bought the stupid little creep for us anyway. Why can’t this die out already I don’t want to do it and now I feel obligated to

Would it be tacky to not get gifts for our 1yo twins this Christmas?
Not as any kind of punishment or deprivation, just to clarify. My husband and I are bringing the twins to my mother’s this Christmas, and the whole family is coming. They’re the only babies in my generation and I know they’re just going to get showered with presents from immediate and extended family who hasn’t met them yet. We are trying to keep toys to a minimum in general, and just got them a bunch of new clothes since they’re outgrowing things quickly. I was thinking of doing stockings for them full of snacks, and picking up some cute Christmas outfit for them to wear on Christmas morning and then leaving it at that. They’re too young to notice or care, but I’d love to hear what you find folks would think of some new parents who just let everyone else buy presents for their babies? Is this reasonable or totally weird?

What did “picky eaters” eat before modern society created things like Mac n cheese & apple sauce for kids?
For example.. in the winter, especially in Northern Europe for thousands of years there was nothing aside from whale blubber and animal protein to eat all winter

Where are you shopping for your baby’s clothes?
I'm looking at Target, online boutiques, etc and wondering where everyone else shops for their baby's cute clothes?

How do I put the phone down?!
How do I stop this phone addiction and pay more attention to my son when he's literally right in front of me? I've tried apps, I've tried deleting apps, I've tried putting it in another room, but I run a business which is our primary income from it so I need to have access to it. I'll be playing with him and the urge to go pick it up is overwhelming. I hate myself when I'm ignoring him. I know I can't pay attention to him 100% and still be sane, but I can definitely do better. Any ideas?

Anyone a former heavy drinker who no longer likes to drink?
I used to work in the beer industry and drink A LOT of (free) beer. Pretty much 7 days a week. It’s been a month since my son was born and I’ve had a beer on two separate occasions and while I liked the way the beer tasted, I hate the way the alcohol made me feel. I have no want or need to try again. I’m glad I’ll never drink like I was before. But it feels so strange to not enjoy something I once enjoyed way too much of. I’m happy to say goodbye to that part of my life. But after wishing I could have a beer my entire pregnancy, I had no idea this was coming.

My Ex Says My Kid Cussing On A Christmas List Is Fine
So my ex-wife sent me my 14 year olds Christmas list via a photo text. I read it and it’s laced with profanity (and some odd choices). I told my ex that she should make them re-write it as it was not something I wanted to show my 78 year old mom nor did I appreciate it as I don’t allow swearing when they are with me. My ex refused and then insulted me by saying my kids could be themselves with her. I don’t feel my 14 year old should be cussing on a Christmas list as it is against my parenting and I feel it demeans the spirit of Christmas. What do you think?

Sick baby question
My LO (7mo) has the flu and a fever of 99/100 that’s being kept in check with Motrin. My question is, do you wake from a super long nap when baby is sick? She’s been asleep over two hours at this point. She normally naps around 2 hours total for the day. I want her to get adequate rest but I also want to make sure she sleeps tonight. Will letting her nap as long as she wants mess up night sleep while she’s sick? It’s her first time having a fever so please excuse if this is a dumb question.

Dads of Reddit, do you find yourselves a lot more emotional since LO has been born?
I’ve always been ‘pro-tears’ in that I will happily ugly cry at a REALLY sad film like Marley & Me or Coco aha However, since my 5month old daughter has been born I find myself crying over sad stories on the news, episodes of Bluey and even adverts. MUCH more than I use to cry. Anybody else?

Hug your drama kid for me...
And thank them for me. I've found the kids in the drama club are often warmer and more inclusive than the general population. Completely unprompted, a friend and drama kid came up to me and my shy kid and said some really kind words about her. My kid just glowed. I wish I could thank her for being a nice friend, but that would be embarrassing so I'll thank all their moms instead!
