Anybody knows what this is?
Last night I noticed this weird light in the sky. The sun wasn’t visible and I checked and it was on the opposite side of the light

Mars showing us the true model of the solar system.
Mars going into retrograde is how astronomers figured out we don’t follow a geocentric model of the solar system. We follow a heliocentric model! In the 16th century Copernicus discovered mars had a retrograde grade motion. Making it simply impossible to orbit around the earth, and making the widely known heliocentric model of the solar system mainstream. The one we all know and love today! Gotta thank the OG’s

How to find historical astronomical data, such as eclipse paths in the distant past?
I’m writing a novel with some historical elements, and one plot point is that a particular ruler witnesses an eclipse. I’d like to have the details line up with reality but this would have taken place over 3000 years ago. How can I find precision data for something so long ago?

DYK Thursday's hybrid solar eclipse is caused by the Earth's curvature and only happens when the Moon is just at the edge of the distance needed for a total solar eclipse.

What's the best sub for identifying a star we saw in the sky?
I'm currently in a bus trip at night, and there was this really bright star that I took this video of. The video, of course, is crap and captures nothing of the night sky except this one white star, that is so bright that I'm sure it's a planet in the solar system, but I have no idea which. I can give the time, approximate coordinates and the direction in which the star was in my view from the bus, while I filmed the short, 15 seconds video. I just don't know which sub would be appropriate for that, as most of the things I try asking about on Reddit end up removed by automods.

Hello, I was wondering if anyone has experience with both SW? I am just curious about which has it’s own unique features that the others don’t and it’s pros and cons of using it.
