Anyone have any links about jwst's recent discovery?
I'm trying to find more info about the implications of jwst discovering massive galaxies a mere 600my after the big bang. I just keep finding the same info and nobody is discussing what this may imply about the creation of the universe.. is the universe much older than we thought? Does the big bang need revision? Is it completely wrong? Is it an optical illusion of gravitational lensing? There is almost no discussion on the implications of such a major discovery. I want to know what the experts are thinking about this but nobody is saying much....

why are telescopes so expensive if it’s just glass
the price of materials is cheap. it’s just glass cut in a convex or concave shape or in a reflector it’s just mirrors. put them inside a plastic tube and all of a sudden its thousands of bucks ?

Would a Wolf-Rayet star's solar wind destroy an Earth-like planet?
There was a question here this past week about whether a supernova would destroy a whole planet, but seeing the release of Webb's imagery of WR 124 got me thinking if a planet would even survive the *precursor* to supernova. Whether that's the process of shedding 10+ solar masses of a star's material at 1000+ km/s, or the insane amount of radiation that very massive stars emit while they're just doing massive star things. Is it even possible for rocky Earth-like planets to exist for very long around supernova candidates? How about Jupiter-sized planets with strong magnetic fields? Would *any* planet survive in such an environment?
