The south polar cap of Mars is beautiful â and sometimes a bit baffling. A new study by @NASAJPL scientists finds even more radar signals suggesting subsurface lakes there. The issue? Many are in areas that are just too cold for liquid water. Details: https://t.co/CZrytUHRWt https://t.co/7JXDq8ofc4

Hi I am new here and not really educated on the topic of space. What are the benefits of NOT knocking asteroids off course to avoid hitting earth?
Idk if this is a stupid question and I understand an impact could potentially mean lives loss. I was reading a post about Theia and how its impact may have created the moon and even introduced water to earth. I was wondering if any objects such as asteroids that are destined to hit earth could possibly have a beneficial impact on earths ecosystems? Could they possibly contain certain metals, gases, or liquids that could make a positive impact for both earth and the lives on it? Not sure if im reaching here but would like to know your take on this.
