Mat cleaning necessity?
Hello! I’m here to inquire about the necessity of yoga mat cleaning. I live in an area that’s extremely dusty no matter how much you sweep/mop. Consequently, my feet tend to collect dirt and track it onto my yoga mat. I’m a dirt friendly person, so I’m not terribly concerned. Just curious what others think about the germs festering that I then press my forehead against lol. A google search ended in the typical “kill all germs with fire any means necessary” opinion, but I’m guessing it’s not that deep actually. I’d like to lay it out in the sun to bake a bit, but it’s so dusty outside, I bring it back in dirtier than before. Any real experience advice would be greatly appreciated(: ☮️

Does routine matter? Beginner with a lot of questions.
I want to try yoga and am looking at yoga with adrienne and yoga with kassandra on youtube, but it's a bit overwhelming. They both have 30 day challenges (yoga with adriene seems to have mutiple 30 day challenges), as well as a bunch of other videos with poses. Is yoga like weight lifting where you have to focus on legs certain days, core one day, arms another day, etc.? Or is it more where I can just pick whatever? Like can I do one of the workouts from adriennes 30 days challenge one day, and then another from kassandra's another day? Can I pick and choose which one to do from all 30 days or should I do it in the exact order they are listed? How do I pick a routine to follow when they each have so many different ones? When do I do the non 30 day challenge ones?

Do you have a warm grippy sock recommendation? 🧦🔥
Hi lovely yogis, It's coming into winter here and I find myself avoiding getting on my mat because I hate having cold feet. I'm wondering if anyone has a recommendation for a warm winter weight sock that sits firmly and has grip? So far I've found lots of great grippy socks... But they are thin and not much use for warmth. Or lovely warm socks that are too soft and slippery for standing poses. Wondering if the perfect combo (or hack to get both in one) is out there? ✌🏻

Out of body like experience while manifesting in shavasana
I just manifested extremely hard in my Peloton yoga class during shavasana and had an out of body experience. My body started to twitch, I could not control myself, even my dog came over and checked on me. I’ve never had a seizure, and I know it wasn’t one, but it felt like I was shaking uncontrollably. What is this phenomenon? It was amazing.

How long could you go when starting out?
I've been doing 15-20 minutes on Down Dog, mostly Hatha (which is kicking my ass some days) and was wondering how long some of the yoga vets went when they started out. When could you go 30 minutes? 45? When will my body stop hurting? Lol.

Tips for improving mat grip during hot yoga?
I have a Lululemon “The Mat” from about 6 years ago and find that my hands and feet slowly slip for the first 20 mins before I start sweating, mostly while in downward dog. I’ve tried spraying the mat before class but it didn’t seem to make a difference. Maybe the water evaporated or absorbed by the time class started? These are somethings that I plan to try next: - use a moist mat towel for the first half of class - wipe down the mat with dish soap and water to remove any oil, once a week - bring another bottle of water (I add a bunch of stuff to the water that I drink) and pour it on the top and bottom of the mat before I get started - upgrade to a liform mat What has helped you?

Weak glutes (or weak gluteus medius)
Yoga teacher told me: "If your hamstrimngs are tight, then your glutes are probablly weak." I said: "How? My glutes are strong like a stone." What happend then? I try to do barre class. After barre class, I feel nothing in glutes maxiumus, but very hard pain in gluteus medius. Is maybe this, what yoga teacher means "weak glutes"? And another reason here is that biceps femoris is on outside of leg, the same like gluteus medius. Does this mean: "If your gluteus medius is weak, then your biceps femoris is tight?" Is this what yoga teacher mean?

Tingling while breathing deeply in ragdoll.. trauma release?
Today during my vinyasa flow practice I set myself the goal to really open up my chest, rib cage because that is where I know lots of tension is, like almost clenching. Therefor I practiced without upper body clothes on, I wanted my rib cage to take as much room as it needs. In ragdoll I always feel most relaxed, and this time I sighed so deeply I felt a tingling between my throat and upper rib cage. Tingly, funny, kind of uncomfortable, scary, about to feel very dizzy and cry. Is this trauma release? Should I gently trigger it more? I'm ready for what might come but I also want to make sure if it's safe to inhale very deeply during ragdoll or if that's a known blood flow problem/something else and I need to be careful. Thank you for reading.

Question for Yoga Studio Owners
Hi! I've been teaching Ayurveda and certification programs for over a decade. Many of my students come to Ayurveda through yoga. During the pandemic several of my students that owned studios were obviously struggling terribly due to the lockdowns. To help, I offered to profit share my programs that are online and split everything 50/50. It worked out great. I lead all the trainings and online meetings and it provided them income and way other than online yoga classes to keep their community engaged. My question. :) As a studio owner would something like this interest you? Basically, a done for you Ayurveda training that includes managing all the backend software, landing pages, course content and your branding. Thank you for your time and thoughts!
