Favorite Books on Yoga and Chakras!!!

Hi fellow yogis! I am wanting to do a deep dive into yoga and chakras specifically. Do you have any favorite books on either?

Pressing up into wheel/urdhva dhanurasana

Hi yoga community: Hope this post is OK/doesn't break the rules. I'm not seeking medical advice, but anatomy comes into play with my question/conundrum. I've had a pretty solid, regular practice for a couple of decades (former ashtangi). Took a couple of months off to move to a new city, but I practiced a bit at home (most suns A/B, standing, ect). In a new class last night, I couldn't press up into wheel. My body just wouldn't do it. I could drop from a headstand and forearm stand into a wheel variation no problem... but pressing up was a no-go. Strangely, it felt as if I'd never done this pose before. If this has happened to you, I'd love to hear what might have been the cause. A little background: I am tight in my shoulders and back and one shoulder was talking to me during practice. Perhaps I'll rest a bit. Thank you for all feedback!

Hip flexor irritation

Hi everyone, My left hip flexor area (or could it be my psoas or any other ligament/tendon in my groin area?) remains irritated after a few months and is preventing me from forward folding. My hamstrings are supple enough to allow me a decent fold, sitting and standing but with this irritation I have to have my knees bent. A sitting fold is the hardest, I can only move a little bit forward where’s I used to be able to fold and at least hold the outside of my feet. I’ve been taking it slow and easy and working around the discomfort but it’s not getting any better. I’d really appreciate any advice. Or should I go see a physio?

For the love of all that is holy, stop putting down dog in 'beginner' yoga sequences

Yoga teachers have no concept of what a true beginner is. Down dog is NOT a beginner move and yet is in every “beginner” yoga video. I’m a truly inflexible middle aged person and have been inflexible since I was a kid. I can’t find a solid yoga video for true beginners like me to get a good stretch. It’s just pain and positions I can’t do.

Only what you perceive, you know – the rest is all imagination. Yoga is the science of enhancing perception.

Do you agree with this quote? Has yoga enhanced your perception?

What moves help aching pain back of hips?

Hey everyone, I often get a really achy pain in the back of hips. It hurts when standing and sometimes when sitting. It only goes away when I lie down and at first pain gets worse and then it’s kind of satisfying because it slowly goes away lol. It’s not just back pain and I feel it in my hips and gets way worse during that time of the month. I wondered if anyone knows what this could be, and what yoga moves I can do to help this?
