New work by Sable Elyse Smith premiers today in the 59th Venice Biennale: ‘The Milk of Dreams,’ now open for preview and on view to the public beginning this Saturday. Curated by Cecilia Alemani, the international exhibition includes 213 artists from 58 countries. Taking viewers on an imaginary journey through the metamorphoses of bodies and definitions of the human, it is grounded in questions pertaining to this moment in history, when the very survival of the species is threatened. It asks, what are our responsibilities towards the planet, other people, and other life forms? And what would life look like without us?
