How do I step back from my successful business?

Hi everyone, I operate a small tour company in a very popular national park. We are booked all the way through the summer. Every year I bring in about 150k in revenue with one vehicle and only myself as a guide. I have a 5 star average across multiple websites. There is room to grow and hire more guides and capital to buy more vehicles. Here is the problem: I recently had a severe breakdown and was hospitalized for over a week. I’m not going to delve into it but I have found it impossible to run the tours or do any of the booking/finance/admin. With the knowledge this may strike again at any time, I need to go from doing everything myself to handing almost everything off as my mental health is a liability. I love my business but I need someone else to run it. Where would you all look for this kind of person? Should I just sell the business?

Starting a business

Hello, I’ve been wanting to starts up a business servicing spas and would like some advice from other small business owners. I’m not sure what would be the best route to go and how much money I’d actually have to put up to make things official. I was looking into starting an llc and my states website says it would cost $100.00 however I came across “incfile.com” and supposedly it’s free to get an llc through that website. If I’m one individual working for my self do I need to go as far as obtaining an EIN? Ultimately I’d like to know what steps should I be taking?

Franchise owners question?

I run a gas station and my contract is up for renewal and my boss mentioned they are going to increase the rent due to not doing it last time…my question is two fold is this normal business practice? What should I consider reasonable the company is valued on 3x of income so it will obviously cut into that and it makes it more difficult to sell also business has suffered and I think most people can agree there probably isn’t a lot of interest in running a gas station without owning the land…

My business bank issued two credit cards when I asked only one

I recently got the first credit card for my business. However, I noticed the bank (BofA) issued two credit cards when I accessed their bank app: one under the business name and another under mine. Is it normal and/or beneficial when you already have an existing personal credit card with them? My personal account shows three credit card accounts now: one which I already have for many years and the other two I described above.

Milage vs hours

I’m an independent contractor and my commute to my job may increase soon. As of now I don’t clock hours for my commute but wondering if it’s something reasonable to ask my boss to compensate me for? I know milage pays more but won’t I get reimbursed/write off milage on my 1099? Just trying to see what the best route would be

How do you deal with copycats in fashion and jewelry industry?

Brick and mortar shop owner. I make my own designs and have seen other shops copied my exact designs. What can I do to be one step ahead of them?

Non-compete agreements and starting a new business.

I’d like to start a business in my industry in the next few years. I have a 1 year non-compete agreement with my current company (essentially banning me from starting a company in my area) and my employer has a history of monitoring and enforcing those agreements. I’m curious if anyone else had this issue and what you did during the time when you were unable to compete against your former company.

Help growing cleaning business

So my mom runs a small cleaning business where she cleans houses and has about 7 to 9 clients every week. She has had to drop clients in the past because she does not want to work as much as she is getting older (worth noting as gaining new clients is not an issue). I want to help her grow her business and bring on some employees so she can just do administrative things for her business and not the manual labor. I am confident I can help her aquire employees, as well as bring on new clients, but my accounting and tax knowledge is slim. She currently just collects cash from her customers. Can someone provide advice on how to begin paying employees with payroll and what to do regarding taxes?

Custom printed shipping boxes or no?

I wanted to get everyone's take on custom printed shipping boxes. I've been using plain brown eco-friendly shipping boxes and they're around $0.6 each, but custom printed ones are more like $2.75. Do you think it's worth the extra cost, or should I just use regular boxes and add custom branded tape and maybe a sticker? I know custom printed boxes would be ideal, but with a net difference of $2, it will end up being like 5% of my gross margin. What would you do?

Thinking about sunglasses

I’m a 17 year old into tech and fitness and I’ve been thinking of making a small sunglasses company and right now my current idea is a pair of sunglasses with some sort of AirTag technology so that you don’t loose them. I was wondering some feedback on that idea and maybe if any of you have any ideas suggestions or questions it would be much appreciated thanks so much

W9 vs 1099 pay rate

As a summer helper, my 18 year old nephew will be helping me with a variety of small projects. He will probably end up making around $1000.00. I am curious what I should be paying him as a 1099 contractor. I would like to pay him $17 an hour after his taxes. How do I determine what I should be paying him to arrive at $17? We are in Denver, Colorado if that helps. Thank you
