Do you have child friendly, positive, rock/metal music recommendations?

What the title says. My offspring likes things like Imagine Dragons. Gets a lot of power up uplifting songs off Anime soundtracks etc. Also likes moe rock and metal sounds, and hiphop. I’m trying to move him from the dark and doomed melodrama, he’s waaaay young fyi. Not judging or debating types of music for kids, not my style or opinion. This is simply what my child needs now, there’s more to why I’d like his mindset more positive and uplifting (which he goes to as well…just want to replace the more tragic tunes that get muddled in with grown up artists and grownup experiences…)

Why is my kid absolutely miserable after fun outings?

My almost 6 year old is intolerable after she does anything “fun.” A trip to the zoo, mini golf, a special lunch, birthday party, whatever. She’s absolutely MISERABLE for the rest of the day once it’s over. It makes me not want to ever take her anywhere because I have to deal with her incessant whining and breakdowns for hours until she goes to bed. Is just my kid like this?

Husband calls me to ask where things are every time he goes to the store

Every. Time. He just ran to the store to pick up like 3 things. My phone rings and he asks where to find glass cleaner. Uh, look in the cleaning aisle??? How would you shop if I wasn’t around? Like, come on. Use your brain power. I swear the house would literally fall apart if I wasn’t here some days…

Still Safe

I haven’t cracked and gone back. Actually the more I’m away from him and able to think….the more terrified and enraged I’m becoming. The amount of abhorrent, despicable behavior I justified or buried to survive. It’s so much worse than I even imagined. I can’t believe this was my life and I tolerated it, allowed it to happen to me. The systematic breaking down of my defenses and humanity, slowly, over the course of more than a decade…. I feel even more afraid now than when I was living in his house. I am trying not to be consumed by fear….but it’s so illuminated. He’s so profoundly disturbed. I am so lost. I’m hanging in there you guys.

Can anyone help me understand why EWG says the Neutrogena may not sufficiently block UVA/B rays, but the thinkbaby does - they both have 20%+ zinc oxide as active ingredients? (Links

Positive test 10 days before missed period

I have a super regular, 33 day cycle period. My menstrual symptoms are very regular as well. Becoming moody/an emotional wreck exactly 7 days before it starts. I started feeling weird last Sunday after seeing Taylor Swift and brushed it off as post concert depression. 7 days later I’m still crying at any and all things. I decided to take a pregnancy test today (10 days before missed period) and I got a positive result. What are the odds that it’s false positive, or a chemical pregnancy? Or is it way too soon to know? Do you feel pregnancy symptoms with a chemical pregnancy?(not that I have any symptoms besides intense emotions and sore boobs) I’m hoping it’s false and kinda wish I didn’t the test lol

Who were you before you became a parent and who are you now?

Who were you before you became a mom or a dad (what were you like, what were you doing, how were you living, etc)? What was the birth of your kid(s) like, how did this impact your life, and who are you now that you’re a parent (what is your personality like now, how are you living, etc)? Just an interesting food for thought. I’m reflecting on life as a mom of two under three and though I am the same person inside, I am more responsible and forced to be less impulsive- I look at my old self before kids and laugh honestly. I’m just curious what other people’s perspectives are.

We started toilet training.

A week ago we started toilet training our 4 year old autistic little man. We have done our research on tips and tricks for training a neurodivergent child, and followed the guidance from his consultant paediatrician before taking the plunge. Dear Lord I've never done so much laundry in my life. His nursery bag is packed with 10 changes of clothes, in case of excessive accidents. I bought a food cooler bag to use as a wet bag, as it's easy wipe clean. I have stepped in pee far more times than I ever would have imagined. The tricks I've learnt for cleaning clothes while working at a nursery/daycare have come in SO HANDY, when his long-term laxatives mean he doesn't always understand when he's pooping. Today he's had 3 successes. This is the best day we've had and I'm happy 😊 only 95 days until he starts school, so we've got time. Timers, kitchen roll, antibacterial spray and pegs are my life. Thank goodness it's warmer weather. That is all. Goodbye.

Why do Redditors/the internet hate children?

Like, I just don't get it? There was a post in another sub today about a child peeking under a stall at a woman and the amount of upvoted comments about straight up wanting to hurt/injure this kid was disgusting. I 100% get the woman who posted feeling uncomfortable and all, and I obviously don't let my kids peep at people, but I don't understand the gut reaction of wanting to hurt a kid just for breaking social rules that they don't understand yet? There are comments talking about breaking the kids nose, hitting them, peeing on them, calling the cops, and calling the kid a sexual predator and I just.. I can't. I was actively childfree for a long time, didn't want kids (I'm still not crazy about kids that aren't mine lol) but I never felt this amount of hatred and violence for children that the internet seems to feel?

Feel like a failure as a Mother.

I stayed too long with my abusive ex-husband and unfortunately my children witness a lot of things. Lately my three and a half year old has been having nightmares and says things about how daddy was a bully and scary and is Mommy okay. Have I destroyed my children for life? What kind of help can I offer them? My poor babies.

Are food pouches bad? What snacks do you feed your babies?

What are your thoughts on baby food pouches? Even the fruit ones that aren't made from concentrate. Are they really bad for babies? What are some good and tasty snack alternatives that I can give a baby below 1 year old? I have a flight coming up and need to prepare snacks.

Is this actually right or wrong?

I saw this tiktok and I saw the comments. I don't plan on being a parent but I can't tell if this would be okay to be like this to a child or not. Was he the brat? Was the cop threatening him? Was it necessary for the mom to hit him? Does it depend on how the child learns that if the child doesn't learn you hit it? Is it abuse? Is it proper discipline? https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTRoq6QQ8/

3 1/2 month old teething?

My daughter will be 4 months in 10 days. Is it too soon to be teething? She’s chewing relentlessly on her hands, drooling & slightly less of an appetite.

Breath holding spells

Baby girl is almost 4 months old and completely healthy. Gets plenty of nutrients in her organic formula (kendamil). Breath holding spells Are becoming MORE frequent and we thought it would happen less often as she grew. Happens when she is startled or calm. There seems to be no particular catalyst to the events. Pediatrician said he’s unfamiliar with it and I’m taking all the right steps but maybe take baby to ENT. Wondering what other parents have done medically- if any sort of specialist was helpful. Here are the things I do that have not helped stop the episodes: Back patting (Vertically AND facing down) Electric Frida nose sucker Blowing in face Cold water I know lots of babies do this from searching around on various forums on Reddit like this one r/beyondthebump r/sciencebasedparenting but everyone just says blow in her face. I’m doing that and it’s not working. This is freaking me out and I don’t know what else to do. 😢
