The sweet peas have set a beautiful crop of seed this year thanks to the cool, wet weather and we’ve been harvesting pods every few days. We’ll have more than 50 varieties of sweet peas in our upcoming September 7 seed sale (there’s a link to view the varieties in my profile) if you want to add them to your garden next year. Sweet peas are one of my very favorite seeds to harvest because they are so easy to pick, but you want to make sure to let them fully ripen first. Here are 3 different stages of ripeness (green, gold, and brown) and what the seeds look like inside the different pods. The brown pod on the far right is the ideal stage to harvest because the seeds inside are fully mature. If you still have some plants in your garden and they are making pods, try saving a few seeds to grow next year! Another great thing about sweet peas is that they don’t cross with each other and the seeds you collect will come back true to the original parent plant. #floretseeds #seedsaving

“what’s in a name? that which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet.” if it’s a garden rose, the answer might just be y-e-s. some (but not all) types of these specialty cuts are known for their sweet fragrance. in general, garden roses tend to show up their modern counterparts when it comes to bloom size. and while bigger doesn’t always mean the best, when it comes to these stems we think it makes them all the better to fill your vase with! ✨today is the last day to save $15✨ on our favorite fluffy stems (at least outside of peony season) with code GARDENVARIETY at checkout! act quick as this offer ends as soon as the clock strikes 11:59pm PT 🕰
