Finished the day in the dahlia seedling patch hunting for new treasures, which is one of my favorite things to do. Each bamboo stake marks a keeper. This spot has about 3,500 dahlia seedlings planted in it, the perfect amount to work my way through in a few relaxing hours each weekend. When I first started breeding dahlias we had just gotten the new farm and I had so much room to work with I planted a huge field with over 13,000 seedlings in it. While it was incredible, each selection session took me an entire day and by seasons end I really struggled to keep up. I think I’ve finally found the sweet spot (for me), enough to really go for it, but not so many that it become a chore. The purpose of this little spot (it measures 36 feet wide x 90 feet long) is to be an escape and a late season paradise for the pollinators. #floretseeds #discoveringdahlias #dahlia #dahlias

Ranunculus are one of my favorite flowers. Often confused with roses these beauties have a long vase life & in my opinion only get better with age. Depending on where you live you can either pre-sprout your corms in the fall & overwinter them (providing a little bit of protection) or you can start them in the spring. If you’re not planting til the spring these corms will store just fine in a closet for a few months until you’re ready to plant. Believe it or not we still have some gorgeous varieties of ranunculus left in our shop (link in profile) including this beauty ‘Salmon’. A growing guide is included with every order so that you’ll have step by step instructions on how to grow these spring stunners right in your own gardens. Hurry & snag some before they’re gone! #flowerfarm #flowerfarmer #flowerfarming #springflowers #springbulbs #bulbs #flowers #freshflowers #cutflowers #ranunculus #garden #flowergarden #spring #thefarmhouseflowerfarm #pnw #stanwood

Happy Saturday littletonfarmersmarket_nh people! Gosh, can you believe the past few days we have been having? If you are up in the north country, you know. The days have been warm and clear and the leaves are changing into vibrant reds and golds. Such a dream! 🍁 Tomorrow! Last mason jars and bouquets of the cut flower season! Last market is next Sunday (10/9) and fresh blooms will be very limited. Tomorrow’s market is going to be epic. Don’t miss it! Mini wrapped mason jars! Vibrant mixed bouquets! Eucalyptus bunches! AND don’t miss some really beautiful Rosemary and Eucalyptus wreaths! Great to hang in the shower 👌🏼 See you tomorrow over the covered bridge on Riverglen Lane! 10-1! #flowerfarmer #farmersmarket #grownnotflown #cutflowers #buylocal #supportlocal #womenwhofarm
