A boy in Florida is being hailed a hero after he swam ashore to get help when his sister and dad got swept away by a current on Friday. Steven Poust told CNN affiliate WJXT that he anchored his boat on a river in Jacksonville, Florida, to let his two children, Chase, 7, and Abigail, 4, swim. When Abigail began to drift away, her brother and father jumped in to help her. Poust told Chase to swim to shore. When the 7-year-old reached land, he ran to the nearest house for help. The Vatican said that Pope Francis has signed off on a rewrite of the universal Catholic Church's internal penal system, updating a version in place since the 1980s and laying out clearer penalties for the sexual abuse of minors. The changes, years in the making, are in part a response to the church’s raft of abuse and financial scandals — which have often been magnified by secretive, highly subjective decision-making about how and whether to apply punishments. Pope Francis, in a letter accompanying the revisions, said the laws are intended to be clearer and simpler, while reducing the number of instances in which penalties are left to the “discretion of authorities.” Read more through the link in our bio.
