Why Tylenol is so frowned upon?

Idk if it is just my experience, but I have some fellow mom friends who said they avoid Tylenol because they don’t want to use medications. Now I feel like a shitty parent because I have been giving Tylenol at least once a day if not more (obviously with enough space between doses) because my girl is putting 2 teeth at the same time and she’s miserable. I work in the ER too and I have seen multiple parents bringing they kids with 102-103 fever and they said they don’t do Tylenol. Why? What’s wrong with giving a medication that would help your child feel better?

My 6 months old baby fell from the bed

This is the first time this happened and I’m still feeling so terrible. We contact nap and since 30 minutes ago I was needing so bad to go to the bathroom, thought LO will be ok since he was in the middle of the bed but I just sit on the WC and heard him fell and crying. Went as fast as I could and grab him. After 5 minutes he was ok, my bf came from his work to see him and now we have an appt with the pediatrician in 2 hours. He fell on his face, had a swollen lip that now is gone and a bruise on his nose. He’s completely okay, drinking water, playing with his toys, etc. but it still worry about everything now.

I had to call the cops on a mom today.

And I feel absolutely horrible. I was driving with my son and I noticed a car beside me, being driven by a woman that was holding her infant in the driver seat with her. My stomach immediately dropped. I don’t know if it was just extremely poor judgment or mental health issues - and I don’t know which is worse - but I really hope that she gets the wake up call/help that she needs. I have no judgment toward her, as I struggled with postpartum mental health issues, and if that’s what she’s going through… I really pray that she gets the help she needs. Thanks for reading this. Just had to get it out.

I let my 8yo explain Pokémon cards to me today. AMA

Only kidding! It was complete nonsense and I didn’t retain a thing. I’d like my certificate for effort though now please! :D

Am I a failure?

I thought it was perfectly normal for my 11 month old to still be waking up once or twice through the night, but I guess I didn't do the right research. How the hell do 2/3 of babies sleep through the night starting at 3 - 6 months? He's still waking up. So am I a failure? Is this true, since I've heard conflicting information?

i just wanna be able to vent without someone suggesting therapy

I'd go to therapy if i had the time and money. And for medical reasons i do not want mood stabilizing drugs. I'm functional. I'm a full time parent, student and athlete. The gripes i have are not hindering my progress or functionality with life. They're mostly not that serious. I've worked most of my problems and traumas out alone without professional help. But lately i feel like if i mention any gripe, no matter how small, it's automatically, "have you considered therapy?". I legit have stopped telling people things. Therapy is so fucking expensive. I'm in the hole 5 grand on medical bills, i legit cannot afford it. If i felt i was a danger to myself or others I'd be willing to go further into debt for it but i don't feel that way. I don't feel like i need therapy i feel like i need community. I just wanna vent and complain sometimes.

I think I’m a lesbian.

I’ve had my fair share of POS men in my life and my STBX is the last straw honestly. At this point, I’m disgusted by men. They only have one thing on their mind and it seems the majority are emotionally immature man children. I eventually felt as though having sex with my husband was a chore and I’m so glad I don’t have to feel pressured into giving him what he wants in order to satisfy him. Anyone with me and have given up on men?

How do you feel about someone else taking your infant to a pool?

The grandparents (who babysit once a week) are talking about bringing my child (who will be about 12 months) to the public pool this summer. I'm just trying to get other parent's opinions about having your child around water without you. I just don't feel comfortable with this. Am I overreacting?

How do babies NOT get flat head??

My baby is 4 months old, she sleeps on her back 13-14 hours a day, does around 1h of tummy time, spends around 2hrs in the bouncer while I wash dishes/cook/eat/do laundry and an hour or two playing in the baby gym/crib/on the mat. The rest of the time I carry her, have her on my lap, nurse. I used to let her nap in the carrier but my recovery is very difficult and I have chronic back pain so I had to stop doing that. At her 4 month appointment doctor said her head is quite flat. She used to have a preference for one side but that evened out and now it's just in the middle. I feel guilty every time she's on a flat surface or in a bouncer but I don't know what else I could possibly do... :// how do other babies not get flat head? What are other parents doing different??

Wake windows?

My nearly 5-week old son seems to have so much excitement with life that he is awake for longer than what says his wake window should be. Im wondering how accurate they are by age? At his age it shows he should only be awake for 60, maybe 90, minutes but he often goes for 2-hour stretches. He’s just laying there wide-eyed, not necessarily fussy. Anyone else experience this? Can wake windows be this different by baby?

Baby can now roll over both ways... where do I put her?

For the times we need to be separate, like going to the bathroom, taking a shower, eating my own meal, etc. I could just set her down wherever on the floor or the couch and be confident that she would stay where I put her and be perfectly safe for a few minutes. But today she rolled tummy-back-tummy-back-tummy while I was getting my cereal ready. Now I'm nervous to leave her on the floor in case she rolls into furniture or the brick fireplace. Leaving her on the couch is now completely out. Does she have to go in the pack and play every time? Where do you keep your babies when they start getting mobile?

Just some bullshit I think about sometimes

In Norwegian, mother is mor and father is far. Your paternal grandfather is Farfar. Your maternal grandfather is Morfar. See the pattern? What do you think maternal and paternal grandmother is? ... You'd be half right if you said Mormor and Farmor But in one of the Norwegian dialects some MIL (I assume) somehow got them all the use "Bestemor" instead ...it translates to "Best Mother" ... And that's some bullshit that I think about sometimes...

FTM

I’m a first time mom of 8 months (by the end of this you’ll see why I wrote that out and not abbreviated it lol) and on this I would always see people post the term FTM and always thought they meant Female to male (like someone who transitioned from her to him) I was today years old when I realized it meant FIRST TIME MOM. 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

Nap Training

I'm curious to hear about your success/failure stories. When did you start, and how long did it take? How was your LO taking it? When established, did it improve night sleep as well? My LO is 5 months old. We sleep trained her at 16 weeks, which was very successful. I would like to try training for naps as she's a contact napper, and I honestly can't hold her for 3 hours a day in the dark anymore (mentally and physically, I'm drained).

Convertible car seat recommendations

My girl is out growing her infant car seat at 6 months. We have a nuna mixx and it’s just to heavy to carry with her in it. (Also she is a super long baby) Anyone have a recommendation of what to get next?
