I can’t afford to feed my family anymore

I(20f) am on maternity leave right now and I make $1016 by weekly and am on wic. My fiancé is unemployed and has been for most of the pregnancy(he has difficulty keeping jobs). My baby just turned one month old and when he was born he had a tongue tie and that in combination with my inverted nipples made it nearly impossible to breastfeed. His tongue tie is now fixed but he will no longer latch so I still pump and bottle feed him. I’ve been so stressed out about having enough money for rent and taking care of baby and me and my fiancé I almost can’t take it anymore. Baby’s tongue tie is fixed now but he still refuses to latch and I got a kidney infection after birth which has affected my milk supply so we’ve had to supplement with formula I just feel so helpless. My baby is beautiful and I love him very much and dad helps out immensely but my mind continues to focus on the issues we are having. Can anyone give me some advice on how to move forward happier?

A lil off my chest time.

We had a beautiful baby on Wednesday evening. The lead up included a failed epidural, some low heart rate scares from the baby, 2 hour push, and a last minute C section. My wife was an absolute champ and is recovering beautifully, and I should be in good spirits. However, I’m still rattled by the affair and I don’t see it fit to discuss with my wife or in laws as she’s clearly got the healing to do. I felt like a hopeless little boy, and I didn’t know what was going to happen. Perhaps this was all needed to throw me into the right mindset for fatherhood, but holy shit. I’m not looking for advice. Simply seeing if any men perhaps went through something similar.

Reasons

Reasons why my eye is twitching today... 1. Deep cleaned the bathroom. Husband proceeds to come in behind me and decide that's the perfect time to give himself a haircut. 2. Vacuumed/mopped kitchen floor. Husband gives our six year old a spoonful of grated Parmesan cheese.... Two guesses how that ended up. 3. I told my husband I was running to the store and asked him to text me if there was anything he needed. He didn't text until an hour later and I was leaving the store that he wanted something random. 4. Overheard him introduce himself as 'retired' to a new acquaintance even though he's been unemployed for a year, and we are years out from being able to retire comfortably. Cathartic vent if nothing else... I'm in that precarious limbo where it's not really bad enough to leave but definitely not good enough to stay...

Anyone feel LESS bonded/close to their husband after the birth of their child?

I always imagined becoming parents could only bring my husband and I even closer together, but due to numerous large conflcits and fights its anything but that. Him and my mom got into a huge fight, which has caused my to be isolated from my family for the past several weeks. We also disagreed about breastfeeding, and her name. He didnt do anything for my very first mothers day (Was taking the fight that he had with my mom out on me). I've never felt more disconnected from him, and like something is majorly off. Im not sure if this is a huge sign that just something isn't right in our marriage, or if it will pass. Anyone feel a similar distance with their partner once their first baby arrived ?

So. Much. Poop.

TMI warning, obviously. Woke up this morning to my 3yo crying over the baby monitor "Mommy help me! There's poop all over me!" and he wasn't wrong. It was a straight to the shower situation. Discovered the 18mo had also pooped, when she got her hands in it and kept trying to rub her eyes. Husband ran the carpet cleaner, I scrubbed the laminate and the radiator. I still need to hose off the bedding, cloth diapers, and stuffed toy. And found the cat had pooped in the living room last night. Twice. Did I mention I have the runs?

Anyone just want the day alone?

I’ve spent the past 48-72 hours grocery shopping and prepping for a Memorial Day Cookout that my husband wants to try and make a tradition. I’ve cooked my ass off for about 30 people, checked all the boxes. I don’t even want to particulate at this point. I just want a cold glass of something alcoholic and a few minutes to myself to put my feet up. I’m cool with leftovers.

Companies that make cute graphic girls tees that aren't see-through?

Asking for my kid. She's in third grade. Not ready for a training bra and wants to wear something not so sheer that she needs an undershirt. Anything exist?

Heading down the baby purée/toxic metals rabbit hole

I was using beechnut baby food until seeing they tested high for toxic metals. I realize these metals are in the soil and this is not the company adding something to the purées to make them test high. I see there are other, more expensive options for baby food that do 3rd party testing. My question/thought is, these companies that do 3rd party testing the final product and have lower levels of metals, what are they doing to their soil to achieve this? If a batch does test high, then what? Move to a different plot of land? I am wanting to make my own purée and considering purchasing vegetables from the store. What are your thoughts?

What you wish you knew….

What is something you wish somebody told you about having a baby during the first 12 months?

Metallica

I joked through my wife’s pregnancy that our LO would appreciate metal music, just like his dad. I played it, softly, while she was pregnant. Turns out though, it worked. Few things bring me more laughs than playing Master of Puppets (or the Trivium cover) while soothing the little dude and watching him immediately calm down and go to sleep. We’re listening to the Kill ‘Em All album now and he is totally zonked. I’m trying to figure out the science behind this, as I think it relaxing too.

Normal Newborn Breathing Noises?

I’ve been told that newborns breathe weird and make weird noises. But what’s actually normal or concerning? Does anyone else’s newborn make wheezing sounds while breastfeeding? The only other weird sound he makes sounds like a gasp for air, but through his nose. Is this normal? We’re going to try some saline spray and the nose frida later today, but I want to see if anyone has experience with this.
