My husband just accused me of being a freeloader

It’s hard because I honestly never thought he would say anything like that. He knows how hard I struggle and he’s been to every doctor appointment with me. I am a stay at home mom to our 3 kids, and he says “well, you need an income for that.” Then about my Etsy shop he kept saying “you should have learned how to advertise better.” I know he feels insanely overworked right now, but this was just unexpected and he is not this kind of person. We have been struggling financially for years, but the way he literally just said “go get a job”, I had to double take and I asked what’s wrong and he said “You’re a freeloader, you don’t bring anything to the table.” Aside from osteoarthritis, a scotoma, heart palpitations, and random dizziness, I also have crippling anxiety and PTSD. I don’t know what I would do. I’ve always had this anxiety, I was adopted at a very young age, but the PTSD has been more recent.

Food pouches on airplane?

I know I'm allowed formula but my baby really likes her pouches these days. Am I allowed to bring pouches on an airplane?

Is there an anti-SIDS benefit to room-sharing if there’s white noise?

I’m a little confused about how white noise machines play into the benefits of sharing a room with a baby. I know the idea is that the parent’s noises (coughing, moving, etc) may help prevent the baby from sleeping too deeply. But how does a white noise machine play into that? My baby is still in a special care nursery in the hospital, but when we bring her home, our plan was to have her sleep in her nursery and have one parent on a twin bed maybe 5-6 feet away, with white noise going. I feel like it’ll mask most of the parent noises, so does that mean there’s really no additional protection against SIDS in this scenario?

Worried about 8 month old eye contact

I wonder if anyone has had the same problem. We have noticed that our 8 month old does really maintain eye contact. She will more with mom, and only if there are no other toys or distractions around and they are doing 1:1 interaction. Even less with dad. Just a glace for a few seconds before looking away. We brought up our concerns with our doctor and we feel dismissed. Any advice or similar experience?

C-section moms, how long did it take for your stomach to go down?

I know it can take longer to heal from a C-section. I’m almost 16 weeks and I feel like my stomach is still so bloated and round. It’s not flabby like fat, it’s pretty firm. Not rock hard like when I was pregnant. But I have such a gut still, even with exercising every day and eating better. Any tips for helping flatten the stomach? I started trying to do ab workouts targeting diastasis recti, hoping that helps 🤞🏻

Is it normal for pregnant women with gestational diabetes to still have high spikes after a carb heavy meal?

Edit: Title should be women WITHOUT Gestational Diabetes. Hello all, I'm guessing it is otherwise the threshold on the glucose intolerance test wouldn't be so high to account for the carb overload. I'm self monitoring for GD for a week. Fasting and one and two hours after meals. Levels have all been within range (going by levels I found in a study) of a pregnant non-diabetic. Except for dinner today. I had a meal with brown rice and sweet and sour tofu which had a sugary sauce. It was 98g of carbs (glucose test is 75g of pure carbs), meal composition was 71% carbs, 15% fat, 14% protein. I also had a non-alcoholic beer which was pretty much just carbs which I drank over half an hour. I tested an hour from when I started eating/drinking and got a 145 mg/dL, which returned to normal range of 100 mg/dL after two hours. Should I be concerned about a high number like that after a lot of carbs?

Spilt hot coffee on my 2 month old

Son was asleep on my chest and I was drinking coffee. Wasn't scolding by anymeans but certainly hot. He randomly whipped his head back and it knocked the cup in my hand. He got a small amount on his shoulder and went ballistic. The burn is not major by any means, just a bit red. I applied cold cloths and aloe and the redness is gone and he's fine. I have never felt so guilty. Only using travel mugs from now on

17 month old tripped and chipped his two front teeth

Hello, Just looking for advice/hand hold really. My 17 m old was playing on a tiled floor and his hand slipped and he face planted the floor, breaking one of his two front teeth in half and chipping the other. I’m absolutely devastated. We took him to A&E and then an emergency dentist who said that the nerve wasn’t exposed and that there was nothing else that could be done other than to monitor his teeth/gums and advised to return should his teeth turn grey or go black. Has this happened to anyone else? I’ve been crying all day at the thought of him having to go to school like this as it will be years until he gets his adult teeth. The thought of not being able to see his little smile the way it was ever again is heart breaking.

Tips on Peanut/Egg Allergy for Infant/Toddler at Family Events

Hi All! Have a great baby girl that will reach a year in 2 weeks. I wanted people' thoughts on how to handle Peanut/Egg allergies at family events. When we have a birthday celebration of my family it has traditionally been the person with the Birthday that picks their cake. Is it fair to expect family members to understand and always order an egg free cake or is it more reasonable to have an alternative solution (e.g. Order 2 cakes, bring alternative food for baby for desert). Part of us wants the family to understand as there may be social pressures on our daughter (e.g. when she goes to school) so were hoping that family would be accommodating but I want to be reasonable and compromise.

Hot and sunny - has anyone had success having the baby sleep with an eye mask?

The days here are very hot (and we dont have AC in the bedroom, so we need to leave some gap in the curtains) and the sun doesn't set completely now at our latitude. Therefore the bedroom is not really dark and were all having (more) trouble sleeping. Has anyone tried putting an eye-mask on their baby to sleep? How could it be done safely? We use it ourselves, but haven't dared put one on the little one. Edit: baby is 5 months old.

Mom Shaming Myself

Moming in the morning. Stayed up too late. Drank too much wine. Had a throbbing headache. Couldn’t find ice packs. I used my son’s teethers to put on my head. He eventually stole them, but it worked for a minute.

Baby Hearing Protection

So I searched the group and found some posts about ear protection on airplanes. My issue, is selecting a product — there are so many brands, it’s hard to decide if it’s a crap item with good marketing that looks nice to make me feel better, but isn’t actually helping, or is it actually a science-based protective device? I saw Banz mentioned as a brand, but their site has mixed reviews. Baby will be 10mo at time of travel, but we’d ideally like to use it for a variety of situations like the Canada Day fireworks coming up in ten days!

How to help baby who despises tummy time

We’ve tried several activity mats. We’ve played the baby sensory videos. We’ve tried to get excited with her about tummy time. At last, my five month old is having none of it. If you put her on her tummy she’ll lift herself up with her arms for about twenty seconds before putting her arms to her sides and screaming. I’m assuming her distaste of tummy time is also why she still hasn’t rolled over. She can sit up perfectly fine on her own but she acts like tummy time is torture. I know all babies develop at their own pace but I’m not sure what else to do. Her next doctor appointment is next month so if all else fails I guess I’ll see what the doctor says.

Babysitter and TV

I just need to vent. I’m paying a new babysitter $30/hr. She’s here for 5 hours. After 30 minutes, she turned on the TV and just let my kid watch. I just went downstairs and told them to turn off the TV. Am I being unreasonable?
