Can you be too inflexible to do yoga?
Basically I have really bad flexibility - not like the standard ‘oh my god me too I can barely touch my toes’. I actually can’t get anywhere near my toes, and I can’t sit cross legged either. I’m wanting to try yoga to improve my mobility, but every beginner lesson I watch on YouTube or another platform they end up getting into shapes that I simply can’t do - ‘and slowly breath and place your hands on the floor’. I’m bending in all sorts of strange ways, putting strain on my back and not breathing because I’m finding it so difficult 😂 Is this normal? Should I persist? Or am I doing myself more harm than good?

Any tricks on improving balance?
I’m in my late 40s, just started yoga about 2 months ago for the first time. This sub has been an awesome source of information! The instructors always say, when in a balance position, to look at horizon level as it’s easier, but I find that staring at a spot on the floor a few feet out easier? I find looking up more difficult. Also, and this is with zero judgement, many times when I see someone in my line of vision fall out, I also tend to fall out - it’s like a yawn reaction 😂 Wonder if there are any physical or mental tricks ppl use to help with maintaining balance until I improve enough to have the strength to hold. TIA!

Total Hip Replacement and Yoga
Is there anyone in this community who has had a Total Hip Replacement and practices yoga? I would GREATLY appreciate how you have progressed in your practice since your surgery! Hip opening poses? Forward bends? Flexibility? Or fear of displacing your hardware? How did you return to yoga? Surely someone out there has been in this experience or teaches someone who has. Thanks!🧘

Hot yoga
I particularly enjoy hot yoga classes. My mat is getting towards the end of its life. I'm wondering if anyone has a recommended mat for hot yoga. Have you used the cork ones? My old mat is non slip up until a certain point that ive used in a pinch when forgetting a towel. Have you used a towel that goes around the corners? What about the towels with the non slip dots on the bottom? I tend to sweat a lot in hot yoga and that's why the non slip mat works until a point. Also I don't mind a towel at all its just annoying when it gets bunched up. What's the ideal set up?

I practice with a towel on my mat because I sweat a lot. Most of the time I’m dripping and the girls around me just have a light sheen. Is it a thing to over sweat and is it better to practice without the towel on the mat?

Odd question: when you’re in the middle of a stretch- does it tickle?
So, I am not actually a ticklish person, something it seems I grew out of. Someone attempts to tickle it’s just a moment of “WTF you doing?” And they end up feeling really weird while I hold very long, flat faced eye contact. But, when I’m doing deep stretches in yoga, breathing, slowly settling in, after about 20 seconds… I want to giggle at the feeling like I’m being tickled. I don’t know how to ask or explain without sounding really strange. 🤣🤣

Ringworm. From yoga studio?
As the title says. I have one ringworm spot on my right in the middle of my belly button and hip. Never dealt with this before from gyms. I go to yoga sculpt (with weights) and vinyasa. I’ll admit I don’t wipe down my mat as much as I should and I’ll re use mat towels 2-3x before washing. Do you think this ring worm is from the weights/other props. Or do I just need to be cleaning my mat and mat towel better?? Help pls :(

I often end up pulling or tweaking a muscle in my groin area when I attempt side planks???
I’m in decent shape and not new to yoga but this always happens and then I have to take a break for it to heal. It’s like the second I begin transitioning my weight to one side of my body so I can rotate the other side open, something goes wrong in the inner thigh of my top leg near my groin. A quick Google didn’t yield many promising results, so feels like this doesn’t seem to happen to many people..? Does anyone know what I might be doing incorrectly?

New mat woes
Someone reassure me that once I break in my Manduka mat I’ll love it. Low key regretting replacing my much cheaper mat now because of how slippery my new Manduka pro is (yes I seasoned it with salt!!!) 😖😭

What are the biggest challenges faced?
I was wondering if there was an application that would allow Yoga experts to make Ayurvedic diet plans accessible to our clients, it would be extremely useful. This is just one of the many challenges yoga experts face, what else is there? What is your take?
