Is practicing yoga on the beach truly relaxing?
I have tried once or twice, but there´s always a distraction, no matter the time of the day. If it´s not the wind, or a dog barking, it´s a little boy playing and throwing sand, or the waves acting wild... I don´t know, maybe it´s better at home.

Yoga for body building.
Several years ago i came across a book/article (don't remember exactly) about a western yoga teacher who teaches or learned traditional yoga for muscle/body building. Can someone knowledgeable point me in the right direction. Thank you.

New yoga book help - essential reading
Hey yogis I’m looking for a new yoga book recommendation. Wanted a key book that will give further understanding of yoga principles, how to expand my practice. And in general a book you liked. I have been reading Desikachar’s the heart of Yoga. But wanting to find the next book to learn more about flow as well. And individual practice. Basically open to recommendations haha. Throw them at me…

Tips for Lolasana
I would say I have a pretty strong core, I can pike into headstand & pincha/forearmstand, crow/crane and flying crow. but when I do lolasana, I can’t get my feet off the mat. My butt and shins come off, but it’s very hard for me to get my toes off. Any tips here, or areas of weakness I can work on?

Movement Wisdom vs. My Vinyasa Practice?
Going to go for online YTT (for the online YTT haters, I’m gonna shadow and assist yogis I have connections with in the area for in person experience, I jus need the YA cert to teach at my college) Movement Wisdom seems more comprehensive, and I like that is has both Hatha and Vinyasa as a focus, but it’s also 4x the price. Thoughts?

Development of psoriasis/skin irritation from hot yoga?
I’ve been doing hot yoga consistently since this February, 3-5x a week. The last couple of months, I have developed psoriasis, dermatitis on my scalp and face, and general irritation on the back of my legs and chest. I’ve already been to a derm and switched my detergent to a “free and clear” from seventh generation, so I’m hoping it’ll clear up soon. Just wanted to know if anything like this has happened to anyone, as I’ve never had skin issues like this and it’s unbearable being itchy all day, but I love my practice too much to stop despite my skin issues.

I can’t seem to grasp child’s pose
I’ve been doing yoga for a while now, about a year. Everyone loves child’s pose so much and takes it as a break, but for me it’s just not something that makes sense and I can’t seem to get it. It just feels very awkward no matter how I adjust. I’ve already heard it described as “driving your hips back”. Does anyone have a different way to describe it? Sometimes hearing it a different way finally makes it click. TIA!

Working toward staff pose
I am not able to do staff pose. I have tight hamstrings and lower back. Trying to get in the pose is exhausting for my core and back; when I see others doing it, it looks more restful. I try to sit on a block and do it, but my knees hyperextend which makes it uncomfortable. I would love to hear from someone who started in this position and built the mobility to get into staff pose. What did it take? What did you strengthen / stretch to get there?

I’m trying to improve my balance
I’m trying to improve my balance, so every day I stand on one leg for one minute, then one on the other. After a while though, my hip hurts a little. I was wondering if that’s normal, and my body just needs some time, or if I’m doing something wrong. So far I haven’t done it “yoga style”, since I don’t practice yoga, but I was considering to use the tree position. Should I bend my knee a little or should my leg be straight in the tree position ? And if I do it normally, so that I just lift one leg, should I bend the knee ? Also, they say that, to keep balance, you should focus on something at medium distance, but I find it easier to focus on something closer, which usually is the chronometer on my phone. Could it be because my eyesight is really bad compared to the average ? On the next step I’d like to balance with my eyes closed. Thank you.

Have you read the Upanishads?
In what way do you use what's taught in the Upanishads in your everyday life? I ask because I need clarification. As I am seeing each individual upanishad as a sub set of culture to be identifyed and identify with. Is each individual Upanishad a kind of culture that can be practice or identified? Are they rolls to be played to meet the means to a end? I have only read the book once. What more should I know when I read it again? What do you know?
