DANCING WATER BEADS Here’s a fun way to play with water beads. Start growing them but before they reach full size add a few to a mason jar. Fill the jar with water and then add an Alka-Seltzer tab and watch them dance! Check out more easy STEM ideas on the blog now! LETTER E SENSORY BIN Recently I’ve been making letter sensory bins for my preschoolers. They are a lot of fun and a great way to introduce and practice letter recognition with toddlers and preschoolers. Today I’m sharing our letter E bin! I found all our toys that start with the letter E. Some other ideas that I didn’t include are: Ear 👂🏾, Eye 👁, Eight 8, eagle 🦅, eel, emu, envelope ✉️. What would you include? I used green coloured rice as our filler. DM for a link to my coloured rice instructions! Monkeypox and concerns of spread amongst kids?
Posting this after lurking on a thread regarding monkeypox precautions and wanted to see if anyone had thoughts or advice on this - Monkeypox has just hit the US, and while current cases were primarily transmitted through sex, there are concerns of it spreading through other forms of contact. Seems like it mostly has to be direct skin-to-skin contact with the infected area, but also seems like there is a (lower) chance of aerosol spread and touching shared surfaces. My toddler loves touching anything she can when we are out and about - is monkeypox a concern? What do we know about potential transmission amongst kids?

Dog not adjusting well newborn
It’s only been a few days but it’s been really really hard with our dog who’s older and was always “the baby”. He is very interested in the baby but it’s like once he realizes the baby is real he starts barking because he’s confused. I’m so distraught and feel like I’ve ruined his life. I don’t know what to do to help him adjust

Lap vs seat infant on plane
Plan to fly 5 hr for a trip when LO turns 1 year old, would you recommend booking a seat? We are thinking it would be nice to have a full row by ourselves but wonder if bringing car seat would be troublesome. For info, LO is big he is now only 10 months and alr weight 26 lbs and height 30 inches. We have uppa baby mesa car seat that we stopped using bc it feels snug (switched to graco convertible now for car ride) but for the purpose of this trip, we plan to bring the mesa and get one of those car seat travel bag with wheel. Any advice would be greatly appreciated as we are planning the trip! Also do you know if we would need to also bring the car seat base or we can just strap it in without?

But why does he have to sleep SIDEWAYS in my bed
It’s the small kid too, and he’s taking up the WHOLE DAMN BED. He also just inexplicably sat up and appeared to Vader me, yelled for like 10 seconds then laid back down in a totally new pose. Also he doesn’t feel wet but damn it smells like pee….. I couldn’t even tell you how he ended up in here but I’m calling it and going to sleep in his bunk bed lol.

I REALLY HATE COPARENTING
LOL. It is almost funny. Except it isn't. I pushed back on a few other things today. He disagreed. I said you win. I was obviously annoyed, but he got his way. And so I am supposed to have the kids an extra overnight for my son's birthday. He offered it. Because I am annoyed he took it back and said counsel will be involved if I don't return the kids after dinner. So he can just do that? Retaliate like that? I just cannot...he is such a vile human being.

Husband works away - limited paternity leave
So my husband works away from home at a mine site, week on/week off (so home for 7 days and then away for 7 days). He only gets 1 week paternity leave, so theoretically I would be left alone with a newborn from as early as 2 weeks old. Wanting some perspective from parents on the other side - is this do-able? Will I need to bring my mum in while he’s at work? For some reason we both just assumed that while yes it would be hard, it would still be achievable (thinking that there’s single Mums who do this all the time!) Note - not pregnant yet but we’re doing IVF and very hopeful. Husband is trying to look for jobs closer to home but no luck yet.

When did you stop sitting in the back with the baby?
My baby is almost 7 weeks and whenever my husband and I go somewhere with her together I still sit in the backseat with her. Anyone else still do this?

Couldn’t shower today and I’m at a breaking point
I don’t mind doing all the chores at home including caring for the baby but I’ve told my husband that I need half an hour to take a good shower. But every passing day, he seems to be giving less and less importance to that. For the first 3 months postpartum, I got my half an hour before the baby goes to bed. Now I have to make time after baby goes to bed so that my husband doesn’t have to watch him. Today I finished the chores around 10.30 pm only to find out that my husband decided to take an hour long shower. After he was done, I tried to hop on to the shower and the baby woke up. My hubby was like “sorry I couldn’t have my dinner, I was gaming until now. So I can’t help with the crying baby”. So here I am, without a shower, laying beside the baby cause he’s trying to wake up whenever I transfer him to the crib. FML

How do I get my daughter to brush her teeth?
My daughter (almost 2), is bad about brushing her teeth. She likes to “do” it, but doesn’t do it correctly. She just chews on the toothbrush instead of brushing her teeth. I have tried showing her by example and by letting her brush my teeth—which she loves. And I have tried brushing her teeth for her—but this always ends in her biting down on the brush and screaming and crying. I don’t want her teeth to build up with plaque at such and early age or for her to have bad breath. Any advice?
