Colorful Experience

Hi! I’ve been practicing for about a year now but this is the first time I’ve experienced something like this. I followed a yoga flow on Youtube and it was about creating peace and love. Towards the end when in my seated position, hands on knees and eyes closed, i began to see the most beautiful pink color appear that i cannot even begin to describe. My eyes were closed, not tight or anything but all the darkness slowly became this glowing hot pink. It almost brought tears to my eyes, I was amazed by the color… Has anyone else experienced something similar? It was absolutely beautiful and the first time I’ve visualized something so intensely. Thanks for any and all input ✨🩷🧘🏼‍♀️

Just need some newb help.

So some background 43yr old male with an odd body type long upper body. Some skeletal and musculature problems. I have cervical instability and a recurring or now constant pinched nerve in the right shoulder blade area along with the common lower back issue from construction. I work from home now with a lot of sitting. I do plan on going to classes later but until I can I'm looking for a small 5-10 minute routine I can do a few times throughout the day. I'm just looking for some moves or some 5 minute vid that i can repeat over and over when I can. I glanced through things but most of the posts I saw were based on in class instruction. Also very uncomfortable just showing up at a class as a guy without some base as I don't want to seem weird. I mean I am weird but I don't want to seem it. So any moves/videos based on spinal flexibility would be great. Thanks so much.

I had the deepest two hour sleep after hot yoga this morning.

Slept for the deepest 2 hours after my hot yoga class this morning. It felt like I hadn’t had that good of sleep in years! This is similar to how my body felt after a lymphatic drainage massage. After the massage my body truly never experienced a deeper sleep. Just wondering if anyone else experienced that after hot yoga and if this is normal. Next time I am definitely going to hydrate more before class, but I’m hoping the sleep benefits stick, just when it’s time for bed and not in the middle of the day!

Can doing moon salutations and high planks right before bed help improve posture?

So I’d thought I’d ask if this can help posture and fix some posture problems I’ve been having. I have a military posture flat upper back and sort of an anterior pelvic tilt could this help fix it? If I do it every night before bed?

Right side hip pain/popping during yoga- does anyone else experience this?

I am 27 years old and recently started going to hot yoga again regularly (4-5x per week) after taking a few years off. When I am moving from three point to warrior 1, my right hip in particular pops loudly and will hurt after an hour of yoga going home. I am doing mobility exercises to try and help this, but I'm feeling rather discouraged that maybe I shouldn't be practicing this much? Does anyone else experience this, if so, what have you done to help with your hips?

Backyard yoga

Does anyone practice yoga in their back yard? I have a nice flat yard that gets a lot of sun. My teen daughter says it's "cringe-y" to do yoga in your backyard. Of course I'm an adult and I no longer have the insecurities that teen girls have. I'm just curious to know if anybody else likes to practice out in their backyards during the nicer months.

Do you guys ever have blah/off days and drive to yoga, but want to just sit in your car instead of going inside?

I’m sure I’m not the only one, and I’m not sure if this has to do with the fact that I have some mild depression at times, but do you guys ever have days where despite loving yoga, you pull up to a class and want to just sit in your car and not go in/drive away? It’s been happening to me a bit lately and I would love a mantra or any suggestions when I’m feeling less motivated to practice or not mentally present going in. Thank you :)

What is your opinion on cork mats?

I bought one and I was happy for the first month, however, I've noticed it degrade quite quickly. Do you use a cork mat? Do you have any brand recommendations? Thanks!

Plank Variations Sequence

Howdy! Yoga Journal published a list of 17 plank variations, so I created a sequence that included most of them, excluding the knees down ones. Taking 10 breaths per pose, this took me about an hour to do. See the attached screenshot. Is it okay to disturb someone in svasana?

I took my friend to a yoga class at the studio I have been going to for awhile and completed some training at. She doesn't have much experience with yoga but thought she'd like to come along as she's been stressed recently. Anyway, the teacher was saying to try and stay awake but enter a deep restful state. She took this quite literally. Aparently she thought I had drifted off to sleep and was snoring quietly. I don't think I was asleep, perhaps breathing deeply. She grabbed my arm during svasana and shock me to wake up. She then giggled and whispered you're not meant to fall asleep. It startled me and it honestly felt like it ruined the whole experience as I left feeling really stressed. How do I gently explain to her that it's not okay to be disturbed during this vunerable pose? Also, she should be focusing on her own practice not what I'm doing 😕

Warrior two stance

Hey Yogis, Hope you are all having a beautiful day. I have a small question regarding the foot stance when doing the pose warrior 2. When I started practicing yoga around 10 years ago my first teacher said to have the back foot at an angle of 45 degrees to the front, whereas now when practicing with Youtube instructors some of them say to have the back foot parallel to the short side of the mat (essentially 90 degrees angle to the front foot). This has confused me for a while. Could someone please clarify which is the proper way of warrior two stance? Thank you so much in advance ☺
